INHD: Gayest Network Eva!

So I bought a new 51" HDTV last week and finally had the succubi over at Comcast come over and hook me up with their digital package. It's all fine and dandy like sour candy until you realize that there ain't shit on that's worth watching that's actually in HD. NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, PBS, ESPN, etc. all have their HD broadcasts but, as I'm sure most of you are aware, only select programs are in HD so you're left with only a couple of full time HD channels: Discovery and INHD (1&2). Discovery is all right if you can't get enough of Monster Garage. And who doesn't want to watch Monster Garage? A pack of retards building a 10 story lawnmower out of a nulcear sub. That's just good television. But INHD.....WTF is this all about? It's nothing but travel journals, gay men, and jellyfish - all in beautiful 1080i. Don't get me wrong, the INHD network shows look incredible but it feels like I'm watching a travel log video in an airport lobby. Putting your HDTV set on INHD is the equivlant to pushing the demo button on a Casio keyboard. Yeah it's neat but who fucking cares.

Thank god for football otherwise broadcast HD would be a complete waste of money.

Heh.

You might want to check out DirecTV's HD offerings. Cable isn't exactly famous for being a high quality service. :)

INHD does have the newest movie previews in high definition though, thats pretty cool. Once in a while a good movie too. Nothing spectacular but its not that bad

Yeah, I think as soon as my deal ends with Comcast (I'm getting the digital package for 14 bucks a month 'til the end of the year) I'll go with DirectTV.

Does anyone know anything about HD DirectTV? Do I have to use my DVI slot or can I use component like Comcast? My DVI slot is already being used by my DVD player and I suppose I could switch it back to component cables, but the player only does the 720p/1080i upconversion with DVI so I'd prefer keeping it where it is.

If you went to DirecTV, you'd essentially trade INHD for HDNet, HDNet Movies and Bravo HD. I find BravoHD pretty pointless, and HDNet's programming also has a lot of random travel type programs. HDNet movies shows mostly older films.

You can use component and DVI/HDMI on all recent DirecTV boxes. If you get DirecTV, you'll have to get your locals with an antenna. Some people are appalled by that idea. You also have to buy your own HD STB, though there are some discounts you can use.

Well I receive HDTV via Cable, and I'm quite satisfied with my service. While it may be true, that not all Cable companies are created equal, some give DirecTV a run for their money. I've had DirecTV, Time Warner, and now Cablevision. Thus far, I'm very satisfied with Cablevision as a whole. Their HD offerings are great, and INHD is cable exclusive. I like it because they show many HD Baseball games in HD. The channel has great potential, IMO. Also, Cablevision offers HDTV on demand, which can be excellent, depending on the PPV movies that are availible. DVI is great ( I use it), but the picture is only marginally better than Component, and DVI gives you some lag when flipping through channels (not during actual broadcasts).

Come on INHD isn't that bad you get some amazing baseball games the red sox games look great even though I hate them. You get some decent movies not being played on HBO/Cinemax etc right now like Clash of the Titans or Taps. There also some swimsuit HD stuff if your into that not guys.

Imagine that but 10 times worst, and you get canada's HD program offering, its pathetic here, i wont even bother to go with HD satellite until a few years at the pace its going, little to no broadcasters support it here and those who do, are all english channels, simply not worth the price.

HD is just a waste of time period right now. How about that VOOM network though? Supposed to be 34 legit HD channels

i got VOOM and its pretty cool (btw their Divine HD channel is the gayest ever). Their 21 or so exclusive channels are allright.. they are changing the format for the movie channels soon though (cant wait for the Kung Fu channel!, already have an all monsters channel). Worldsport HD is worth the price of admission if you like European soccer (La Liga and UEFA matches shown live in HD). Also they have more normal HD channels than anyone else, but their weakest point is that at the moment htey only have Fox Sports Flordia (in SD and HD). So if you need your local sports channels you are SOL until they sign more contracts.

Once you get passed the fact that there isn't that much on in HD right now, it's not a bad channel. I can think of only 3 occassions where every HD channel was actually showing something in HD, so it's pretty rare when they are all on the ball. I particularly like the sports that they show on INHD, like Boxing. Saw a Beyonce concert on there that was pretty good (if you like bouncing sweaty ass). There was some Korean Sumo wrestling that came on that was pretty good as one guy was pretty impressive.

I don't remember seeing anything gay on that channel. BTW, HD is not a waste right now, watching topnotch sports in HD is well worth the price for me. I'll probably never forget last year's IU/Purdue basketball game at Assembly Hall. Just an incredible atmosphere and crowd to go with the intense as hell game in crystal clarity.

keep your strippers out of my American football
INHD is not that bad. You have baseball games in HD and when the NBA season starts you get 3 NBA games in HD as well. They are supposed to have a college football game a week starting at some date also. The movie previews are good as well. But on Sundays you have the IMAX movies in HD. Also, they have concerts as well. Can I look at INHD or INHD2 24/7? Hell no, but what they do offer is pretty good. I look at INHD as more of a showcase for HD programming. I turn it on there during a IMAX movie and any visitor at my house starts to drool at the quality.

There's plenty HD content out there right now. If put aside all the sports that being broadcasted in HD, you still have pretty much all the primetime shows from the major networks including the WB and coming soon UPN. Then there's movies from channels like HBO, Cinemax, Starz, Showtime, etc if you subscribe to those channels. You also have on Directv; Bravo-HD, ESPN-HD, HDNet and HDNet Movies, Discovery, and there's a rumor of TNT-HD coming pretty soon.

HD content is booming.
