Even though the internet in my house is working and the router is connected. I tried to enable it, it says enabled... then goes right back to disabled. This is win xp

reboot modem, router, and PC simultaneously.

Leave Modem/router unplugged for two minutes before restarting them.

As I said in another thread, it seems obvious but sometimes the obvious things work and people forget to try them.

That's always the first thing you should try right there. If that doesn't work, log in to your router and see if anything is fishy. Are you on dhcp?

And I don't know why your internet connection is acting up, there's a lot of things that could be wrong now, better to find a professional on the board.

At the worst you could reformat ;)

That sounds a lot like the problem I'm having. PC just recovered from a very bad series of crashes, and it looks like my network devices got damaged. Check your drivers maybe?
