Interviewing at Verizon tomorrow... tips? Advice?

Long post

I recently left a pretty decent job as the inside sales agent of a Electrical Utilities Rep agency. It paid very well (especially for someone at 24 years old with only an associates.) but it was 60+ hours a week and it was causing a lot of stress on my then girlfriend (Now Fiancé btw as of last week) and I have wanted to return to school to get my Bachelors and eventually professional degree so I had to leave.

I previously worked for an AT&T Authorized retailer for almost 2 years and I really enjoyed that so I figured I'd work for an AT&T again. My resume is sharp and I even got a letter of recommendation from my previous AT&T manager to go with it. I figured this would be a breeze and that I would walk right into my old line of work... my mistake clearly.

AT&T corp hasn't called me back, the local authorized Retailer in the area has really strung me along, Sprint HR deemed me non hirable because I requested two days off a week for school and Sunday mornings for Church.

I finally got a call back from the local Verizon Authorized retailer after almost 3 weeks... does anyone have any interview advice? It's been so long since I've had an actual "interview". I didn't have to interview at my Rep job because I knew the owner, I didn't have to interview at AT&T because they approached me and offered me the position straight away because I managed to convince the manager to preorder and pay in full for a copy of Halo 4 (he hates halo) when I worked at Gamestop. I had been at gamestop for 5 years and that was my first job so really the last time I interviewed for a position was 8 years ago.

Does anyone have any advice?
Advice specifically pertaining to Verizon interviews would be great but I bet the odds are slim that a bunch of people here work there so really just advice in general would be appreciated!

Obviously dress well and demonstrate my value.

About 3 years ago I got a job offer from Verizon doing telesales, interview was pretty straightforward "sales" related stuff.. they probably going to ask about your previous sales job, things you did that made you successful, then they'll probably have you do some sort of role play where you attempt to sell them something.. just be confident

And when they ask you. "what novitiates you op?" , Respond with "money"

authorized retailer? you want to work for corporate if anything. tips are be hungry for sales and basically show them you are ready to sell, want to sell, and know how to sell. Have the mind frame that every customer is an opporunity for sales.

but seriously, authorized sucks compared to corporate.

I worked for VZW corp for like 6 years. better pay, benefits, job security, etc working corp over auth.

No corps in the area... I don't mind Auth Retailers having worked for AT&T Authorized for 2 years.
I like how the environment is a little more relaxed than corp.

the problem with auth retailer, other than pay, benefits, job security, is that its like not a good way to build your brand. basically, you arent really building toward anything. you can work at an auth retailer for years and then goto corp and they will offer you a sales position so your back at square one. at vzw corp they usually promote from within, so alot of times they make people start at the bottom. Even managers from Ntelos. Secondly, being a manager at retailer sucks cause you're still a sales rep but now you have more responsibilities too. With that said, you dont have a choice, but you do understand that working at an auth retailer is like working for a company selling another company's product. every auth retailer is different, so my vzw corp advice might not be good cause i know what vzw as a company is looking for, not a retailer. It depends on what type of individual the auth retailer is looking for.

Tips specific to a Verizon Wireless interview won't help you if you're interviewing with an authorized retailer. I used to work at a Verizon Wireless call center, and I can say from my experience in dealing with both that the differences between the actual Verizon Wireless stores and the authorized retailers are night and day, even right down to a lot of the policies, practices and pricing.

yea, honestly, most corp sales reps look down on auth retailers cause we always would get customers who got things messed up by an auth retailer, or they were told incorrect information by one, etc.

Make clear you're good at upselling. They don't care if you can process an upgrade as much as they care that you got the person to add their family for new lines and they walked out with a Hotspot because they decided they needed it at your cajoling.

Corp sales is all going away in favor of contractors. Look up the layoff sites they are laying off and getting rid of all corp stores. Do your homework.

I heard a rumor recently about that from my buddies back at my old AT&T in regards to AT&T corp stores but I never pursued it any further.
