Hardest OT to ever make because there is no fucking .gifs for the game ANYWHERE online. wtf...

I played a lot of the open beta, and I can safely say if you're looking for an easy to pilot and FUN fighting game this is it. The soundtrack is also incredible.

Forgot to mention the "standard" control scheme allows you to do basically one button specials.

So what would normally be a quarter circle forward plus punch for fireball is just the special button. If you add a direction you get a different special.

However if you wish for motion inputs you can turn on classic controls. The benefit is you do more damage on specials, ex specials, and supers, but at the cost of not being able to do them as fast as someone using modern controls.

—-

Personally? I think this shit needs to go away. Just give players the choice, and no added damage. Why punish people who just want to enjoy a smarter control scheme because once again we need to appease the .1% hardcore gamer who will move on from this game the second a new game launches.

Looks pretty good, better than expected for sure. Story mode seems to take inspiration from NetherRealm with Injustice/MK which is a good thing.

I'm currently watching season 4 (like right NOW, just finished 4x03 and about to launch ep 5 :D) so this cool be a nice game to play for a change after Crimson Desert.

Glad they give people a choice, but I disagree with having no damage difference.

Skill should always be rewarded over 1 direction/button execution. It's not a major difference in damage though so it's not like you are getting completely nerfed by choosing the standard/simple control scheme.
My execution is so ass nowadays that I did opt to play with the simple scheme, but I'm fine with having slightly less damage for that choice. I may eventually go back to motion inputs if I can consistently get back to pulling off moves.

I did not even know this game had an alternative control and input scheme despite dipping my toes in the beta.

Only issues I had was being on the receiving end of Viltrumite jab spam into cutscenes and frequent rage quits. Unfortunately I also did not really find a character that I vibed with. The Alien was easy enough to hold my own with but not interesting enough for me to main him. None of the other characters did anything for me. Maybe Cecil and Thula will give me some semblance of a team.

I want to try conquest and titan. Omni man I loved in the beta.

The full cast should be more fun to explore.

Does this have a story mode? I'll pick it up if so, not big on fighting games but love the show
it seems that it does actually have a story mode, don't expect anything too long but, it seems they know the people that love the show will search for that so they are bringing it

I'm in.

Can't wait to get home from work Thursday and play. Between this, Crimson Desert, and Outward on the Steamdeck, I think I'm set for the time being. Got my Hori Fighting Commander out and ready.

Conquest, Battle Beast, Dupli-Kate, Rex plode, and Powerplex are my main interests. I read Powerplex is more advanced so I only have to omit one of the others for now.

Any word on performance on Deck?

There are Twitch drops available soon: https://invinciblevs.com/announcement/invincible-vs-twitch-rewards

I'm an elitist bitch that thinks doing a DP motion is some sort of skill. Chicks love me, and men want to be me ;)
FTFY 🧐

In all seriousness the modern scheme for say SF6 is doo doo but this is more like Granblue VS.

I tried both on a pad and the classic was a nightmare of overlap disasters compared their take on modern. It just makes combat flow well.

If I still played on an arcade stick or a leverless id likely do classic for the damage bump but I'm too old and have 0 delusion I'm higher than plat on a pad in a fighter these days and I'm ok with that.

I'll probably start out with classic. I didn't use it in SF6 and did fine. I think it's QCF, QCB, and DP motions only? That's not bad at all

Touched a nerve there huh?

Yeah, I prefer doing the motions, they're just more fun to me. I think execution might actually be the funnest part of fighting games for me these days, not necessarily the competition at all. My wife is the opposite, she goes for the modern stuff every time, my daughter does the motions though so I don't know. I can't get into fighters that have one button specials for some reason, like Smash and the like; they just don't hold me.

I mean I did write " in all seriousness though" which should be your clue that the prior was sarcasm…

Luckily for you this game offers both and motion gets more damage whereas the benefit of modern is quicker specials since it takes less to make it come out. Which only matters in the highest level of play imo.

Here you can air guard and I believe the DPs are forward plus special so you give up defense to put it out there and can get air blocked too.

I'd imagine next to no pro will mess with modern due to giving up damage.

ChrisG will 100% be doing standard/simple controls. He already does it in SF6.
Probably has some bad carpal tunnel from UMVC3....lol Sou Sou Sou Soufist

Three minutes to load shaders. Six fingers on load screen. Servers down for maintenance so no solo makes sense. Ill try again this weekend.

Edit - a bit early my bad.

Wish i was good at fighting games :) open beta played so well, but im just so bad at these games and i know there are auto combos, but that feels cheap. Would play the story mode, but i have so many other games to play and dont think its worth 50 for me

I mostly play these games mostly with friends, so that we can shit talk and t-bag each other in good fun or in the casual pvp mode since there really isn't any stakes on the line.
If I'm feeling confident in my skills, I venture into rank, but I get super salty; especially if I lose due to a laggy connection.

Look at it for sale. I'll let you know how story is. Since it's now cannon to the comic/show I expect it'll be aces.

I learned fighting games when SF4 came out. I went from a mashing can't do fireball idiot to being able to play any fighter up to a gold/platinum level.

I spent a year simply not caring about losing and playing every match with how do I get better. What did I do wrong? Why did that move hit me non stop?

It's a grind like learning any genre but the beauty is a whole bevy of games open up to you once you learn your first where all your skills transfer over.

With so many resources online these days it's just a matter of can you overcome ego and commit some time.

Spent some time with all the characters in Practice, and did a quick ladder. Powerplex honestly is the only character I'm definite with. I have to decide between Battle Beast and Conquest, then will have to choose between Anissa and Rex to make my team.

I need to get used to this control setup. Honestly might be too old school cause I'm thrown off not having 6 buttons for basic attacks. 3 attack buttons? A Special button? The fuck is this? Lol kidding but also not.

I like the combo system. So far I do kind of a mix of the auto combo and then manual. auto > pop up > manual > etc. Kinda lets my brain keep up while I'm learning.

Also, disappointingly but expected, it doesn't run very well on the Steam Deck. I mean possibly if you keep it to 45 fps or 30 and turn everything to the lowest setting... But why would you do that to yourself?

This follows marvel vs capcom tag fighter button controls if you set it to classic control scheme. 6 buttons.

Wait. Is the story being told over multiple game seasons?

I played like a hour and it's over?

Yup that's it. Hopefully if it's successful they will flesh out it much more.
I'm ok with this. Let's me enjoy more invincible like an extra episode every little bit.

Story started off disjointed then fell into place. Liked the villain idea. I also liked how it changes who you have to fight with and the scenarios. Solid stuff.

Conquest is amazing. Love his whole kit so far. A part of me does wish this was a 1v1 fighter so I can just focus on him lol.

I like Omni man, Titan, mark, battle beast, Thula, and Anissa.

Thula is scorpion which is cool as hell.

I got a good laugh out of the Omni man and Cecil intro quip. "Fuck you cecil." "Fuck you Nolan ." 😂

I am not going to dive into the story today but what I played was very barebones. The game is surprisingly compact (~12GB). The only worthwhile unlockables were character colors. The Arcade ladder had no boss. The ending was just the camera panning around a character and background with dialogue. This definitely feels like a $20 value. I hope it gets more content.

P.S. At least I have a team. Cecil, Dupli-Kate, and Allen seem to be the one set I can throw down with in a pinch.

Only had some limited time to play today. Hopefully tomorrow I can mess around with classic controls and get an online match or two in. I was never super into tag fighters so I need to wrap my head around assists and whatnot.

There are some pretty good soundtracks in this game. I'd recommend adjusting the music to be a bit higher in volume than everything else because it tends to get drowned out too much.

Yeah soundtrack is legit one of the most memorable in a fighting game in forever.

No kidding, these are sick, and I had no clue! So nice to hear a fighting game with a good OST again. I feel like it's been FOREVER.

I still couldn't believe the SF6 OST was/is so forgettable. Wild going from SF2 and 3 to that.

If anyone's curious, I looked up the credits and the entire game's soundtrack is by a music group called 'Glitch Mob'. Here are some songs from their other albums:

Reminds me of 2000s arcade fighters, breakbeat, Konami dance games, Jet Set Radio, etc.

Hopefully Sega knows they exist for JSR3.

Oh shit it's The Glitch Mob?! That makes a lot of sense, lol. That rules!

The story chapter was nothing more than filler with chaotic nonsensical matchups and the original character focus being shoehorned in. I do not think more seasons of subprime plot will be worth my time.

On a positive note I am winning more consistently using Battle Beast solo than my entire original team. For all my gripes about being barebones at least this release is really well polished (even if balancing is questionable) and fun. I still have not figured out how to use Cecil's heavy as the range does not lend itself to ranged combos but I am getting good with his other tools. Dupli-Kate has been a complete bust as I cannot consistently get in or punish in most scenarios. I should really do some research and labbing.

Cecil has two heavy. One is up close shotgun for corner combos, the other is a crouching grenade launcher I believe.
