Invincible VS |OT| Fighting With A Killer Instinct

Cecil has two heavy. One is up close shotgun for corner combos, the other is a crouching grenade launcher I believe.
I am almost never close enough to use jumping (ground bounce), standing (stun), or crouching (launcher) heavy. Thankfully his specials close the distance following his other normals and I can tag in another character to continue combo. I am still scrubby with him so maybe I just need to work on it.

If anyone's curious, I looked up the credits and the entire game's soundtrack is by a music group called 'Glitch Mob'. Here are some songs from their other albums:

Reminds me of 2000s arcade fighters, breakbeat, Konami dance games, Jet Set Radio, etc.

Hopefully Sega knows they exist for JSR3.

Yes good productions here. Drum and Bass, breaks and some trance / electronica fusion based tracks. And no, this is NOT 'Techno' music if anyone tries to say it lol.

I've heard this type of music described as a version of breakbeat.

Popular example:

I think due to so many fusing it with so many other sounds, especially electronic sounds, it got lumped in with techno for some reason. You're 100% right that this is definitely not techno.

But you can hear some similarities in games like SF 3 Third Strike

This music ruled the late 90s and early 2000s when it came to video games, and I was all for it.

Even tho im bad at fighting games i might get this when the story is complete and the game is on sale. Game looks great, music sounds good and the little i played the beta, it was satisfying to play

Yeah, Prodigy is in a class of its own. Primarily has breaks in it, but the hat work has drum and bass in it. They considered it at the time Electronic Punk / Industrial because it's mainly vocal driven.

Third Strike is more focused on drum and bass. Again the hat / drum work heavily symbolizes the genre. The old days definitely were amazing in the genre.

Techno has certainly gotten bright / commercial over the years. Guys like Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Sven Vath have championed the sound for ages.

The story mode being just 1 hour was a big disappointment for me, unfortunately I'm not that much into fighters so ended up skipping it.

Hope you guys are having a blast.

Yeah I think more solo content in general is missing like combo trials, and some fun side mode.

Currently you're buying this to play ranked online and that's about it.

That said the FGC in general has warmed up to this game a lot. It's one you gotta spend time with to see the appeal.

I'm still in lab mode teaching myself BnBs without meter, with one bar, with tags, with super gauge etc to prepare myself for all scenarios.

Currently conquest and Omni man are getting better but I haven't found a third. Thinking it'll be Invincible. My baseline is can I find a 330-350 damage combo with you with no meter, no tags, and can do it reliably. If those work out then you're in.

Spent several hours in training just now and the team dynamic is taking a major shake up.

The FOR sures are Conquest and now Rex. Dude is a monster.

Third spot likely will go to Omni man but I want it to be Mark… but I just can't make mark work for damage compared to most of the cast. Unsure where he should go in the line up.

I'm thinking Rex start, Omni mid, and Conquest for anchor.

Tempted by that Rex towel skin too 😂

Anyone have any good combo videos for Mark?

I don't have the game yet, but I tend to pick the faster female characters as main in fighting games.

For sure, Atom Eve on the team. Thinking Anissa as a 2nd because I like her design and vibe.
I will need to mess with the other characters for the 3rd.

Theorizing I need a character with armor, so maybe Monster Girl for the assist, but Ella Mental seems to be a cool character with her powers, but the other female characters are good too and might be better for synergy?

Kate has Yuns super from third strike. GENE JIN!!!

Crazy that this thread has not even hit 3 pages, game must be DOA.
It's getting a lot of buzz in the FGC. Folks who play it like it. It had some issues that can be easily fixed like using assist while you're blocking to interrupt an opponent to do a free combo, or Atom Eve assist being too good and a must pick.

Overall the game is made more for casual players and folks who prefer fun over sweatiness.

However, there's way too many tag fighters out or coming, and in general this game needed more SP content to win folks over.

It has a low CCU, and will be basically City of the Wolves levels of dead within a month or two so play now if you want matches online against other casual players.

It's a relatively small team, so they can afford a slower burn.
That said, fighting games tend to be niche so it does need to stand out or get deleted. At least it seems to have the attention of the big streamers in the fgc with most saying they really like the gameplay.

With Tokon coming out soon and being far superior graphic-wise, it needs to build momentum.

This game is kind of broken. If you get ~3 bars (depending on team) you can pretty much auto combo (with super) into tag on loop until the opponent is dead (assuming they are out of breakers).

I now sort of get Cecil better but his hitbox for air down heavy is more finicky than any other character I have tried in the game (despite the patch extending range of his heavies the verticality remains very limited). Kate is a bait-and-switch as her signature duplicate special is a liability with all the health lost when the duplicate gets smashed. Her charged crouching medium is a crazy long reaching low followed up by overhead that ground bounces and boosted Wing Chun special has ludicrous properties though. Allen is freaking amazing in every regard with that air special that lets him take opponents to the ground and continue punishment.

P.S. The tag on super/launcher/ground bounce is pretty much the key to keeping combos going as they are super limited otherwise. Fortunately the tag-in can auto combo into another tag in opportunity.

There's a breaker that costs meter sure but you also have the "parry" when they try to bring in a tag. Once people don't mix that up and tag in always when they are about to burn out you know to be ready to parry it and it drops.

Which means most combos will then turn into only things folks cannot break which is in the 400s damage using meter, unless you have ultimate then you're into the 600s.

The game is better when it isn't touch of deaths so 2-3 good confirms with meter you'll die without tag combos which is fair.

But… then why have it be a tag fighting game at all?

This just shows that looking at steam ccu stats means absolutely nothing when its not the only platform. Really great numbers for a new fighting game

I agree, 1M this quick is good for a fighting game.

Tbf though, I imagine most players are on console or closer to a 50/50 split. Edit: I'm comparing it to other multiplat releases like Marathon not other fighting games.
From the streams I've seen, a lot are on PS5.
This game also will be US-centric as I don't think the ip has any big recognition outside of NA. Could be wrong
