IO Interactive CEO: Hitman 2016 was a $100 million game. Hitman 2 was $60 million. Hitman 3 was $20 million.

Hitman WoA might be my favorite game of the last decade.

Insane amount of content and replayability.

And then they added the PSVR2 mode and it got even better.

More publishers and developers should embrace this strategy. Design bold and ambitious systems and then rest on building content for said systems for some time. Hitman is still a top stealth experience and has been for almost 10 years.
Seriously. Imagine a follow up to to MGSV that built on that gameplay.

It's what he did with Death Stranding and it makes the first game look like a tech demo. Same with TOTK. Just nail the base gameplay in your first game and give us more of the same but better in the sequel, and it's almost always east 9s-10s in reviews.

And somehow they managed to make the best mission of the trilogy imo (Berlin) in the cheapest game of them all. Well done.

Just look at From Software, they reuse assets like crazy but reuse them very wisely, it has allowed them a crazy amount of output compared to most other AAA developers around and their games are still fantastic regardless.

Yea good call on DS2 and I agree. Very similar situation. All the cut scenes though probably made the game a lot more expensive. Hitman kept the cut scenes short and sweet.
