To each their own. I found it incredibly repetitive and visually unappealing
I understand that this is the modified build engine and its going for that spiritual duke3d niche, it just didn't do much for me. and I'm from the 90s pc gaming generation, I was 16 when duke3d came out. I guess expectations for me have changed when it comes to FPSs /shrug
