iPhone ghost porn

I was opening the browser on my iPhone, and a cached image of one of my previous browsing sections occupied the whole screen for a couple of seconds before fading into my actual session. Of course this ghost image happened to be one I did not want anyone looking over my shoulder to see. Luckily no one was around at the time, but now I'm paranoid. I've noticed this several times and it seems my iPhone is intent on only ghosting the most inappropriate private mode screenshots. What gives?

Thought this thread would be about actual Ghost porn...leaving unsatisfied.

Same think used to happen with my reddit app on the iphone. I would always make sure to browse other subreddits for at least 2 minutes after finishing the deed, so that the cache wouldn't be of a girls titties when i opened it back up.

Yeah happens on my iPad too. Even using different browsers. Sometimes even brings back things from a few days ago. Not just porn regular browsing too. I just keep deleting history/cache etc and browse as many different sites as possible after.

It's not just porn. This happens with videos in general. The funny thing is, it's not even the last thing I was looking at when I shut the browser down, but for some reason the last video I watch tends to pop up for that split second before I can search.

I too have had this happen. It seems to be linked to whatever is on the ap (browser, reddit etc) when you minimize it, the next time you open it it will be on that screen image. Just be sure to minimize and open the ap with a safe screen and you will be fine (also have to remember the screen image states for different orientations are saved, so open and close in both portrait and landscape to be sure!)

Yeh my ipad does this in a weird way. For instance, I will know that the last page I looked at was neogaf. Close browser. When I open it again later, it quickly shows something else I was previously on, giantbomb, facebook etc before going to the last thing I was viewing on neogaf.

Its really weird.

Its never done it to me with regard to porn though. I must be unlucky.

This happens to me too. I've seen a video of Guns n Roses pop up for three days since that GnR thread a few days back. Very annoying.

Also Apple, fix the Safari reloading/crashing problem. I can feel the hypertension in my ears when it happens.

I had this happen to me. Kinda sucks to be watching something um....private when you're about to lend your coworker your iPad and there's a cached image of booty on the screen. Thankfully I too caught it before any damage could have been done and am now paranoid.

iOS takes little screen captures of all your open apps for the carousel app switcher thing.

You can probably nuke them by killing the app (swipe up on app image).

What exactly is going on?

You screenshot porn? LMAO.

So you are reading the news and BAM ANAL GAPE SCREENGRAB.

For real?

Where is the image kept..just somewhere in iphoto?

ios has this feature where it will screenshot the last state of your app, and load the screenshot in the foreground while loading your app in the background upon reopening the app. This gives the user the impression that loads are happening faster than they really are, while also ensuring that your disgusting horse porn sooner or later will be revealed to your friends and relatives.

Killing the app is actually the worst way to do it. The snapshot is saved when you minimize the app, if you bring the task switcher before without minimizing it won't save a new snapshot and will use whatever was on the screen when you minimized it on the last time.

Just open a safe page, minimize the browser once, kill it and reopen it to confirm.

What's that 50s looking cartoon where the wife is confused that there's no browsing history and the husband is all smug? I can't find it.

Yep. Essentially, it wants you to think that the load times are actually less than they really are, so it tries to use an image as you wait. As you've noticed, it doesn't work properly.

Don't press the home button on pages you don't want ghosted.

This exactly. When you press the home button, iOS takes a screenshot so that it can create the zoom-out (and zoom-in) effect when returning to the home screen. When you return to the app, it will display that temporary screen shot during the zoom-in animation, before it refreshes the actual content. iOS 8 clearly screws this up sometimes and displays images of content that has long been closed. I don't remembering it happening in iOS 7 or earlier. The private-mode option is not immune to this problem.

It should. Once you reload your non-private tabs, they'll be in the cache.
It's not that though. It's an iOS level issue, not a Chrome level issue. If you switch apps on iOS and it runs out of RAM it suspends the other app, takes a screenshot it can show you as a preview in multitasking, and then waits until you open it again.

Dude there are like literally 20 different browsers on the App Store

Use Safari or whatever you use most commonly (on your other devices, ie: tablets, laptop) as your main browser. STAY CLEAR OF PORN on this browser.

Use another trusted mobile browser like Chrome, etc. as your porn browser, preferably use a browser that allows you to password lock it, so you know that no one else can even launch the browser besides yourself (there are a few password protected , incognito or private browsing, browsers out there)

Now I am curious and want to see this as well, do me proud GAF.

I hate when my laptop goes into sleep mode because of a low battery and I forget that I was watching porn once I actually bother to connect the charger.

It's going to continue to happen whether you erase the data or not you have to clear the phone. I had the same problem .

I don't use Chrome. I use Safari. When you turn off private mode, all the tabs reload. This should refresh the multitasking screenshot.
