Alright, I'm pissed. I just bought a ton of really light linen shorts/pants for traveling, but they universally have slippery pockets and my phone is ejecting when I sit down.

I hate iPhone cases, but is there a recommended one that prevents pocket slippage without turning it into a Panasonic Toughbook impersonator?

19 phones available here. One of then are MINE!!!

Now I just need to pray they let me buy the damn thing without a plan!

I blame att and the no 200$ upgrade price for the small lines :P
Small lines? :lol Theres a shitload if people waiting down here. I've been waiting an hour and I'm not quite to the front of the reserved line.

People are acting like they'll take it personally if the 3GS doesn't draw hundreds of thousands of people overnight.

The mob waited to buy the iPhone until last year, so they're not eligible and won't buy it right away. Duh. Apple knows this.

Q: Are we the mob? A: No, we are GAF

Therefore, we either are early adopters with iPhone EDGE, or we're crazy prosumers who don't care if we're paying $699 for a moderate upgrade.

The GAF demo will buy this phone day one. The masses will just keep on buying it (and the $99 3G) in record numbers as walk-ins to the store, as they would any cell phone (or product).

Woah, why without a plan?? Why not as an early upgrade?

No plan: $699
Early upgrade: $499 <--- do this one
Discounted: $299

Well compared to the past 2 years :P

Why wouldn't they?
I don't know!

I imagine it's not going to be a common transaction and I don't know if it's something they'll have in their systems.

Hopefully I'm just being paranoid!

Early upgrade = new 2 year contract!

I'm hoping to just run this contract into the ground and pray that by the time the next one comes out, Verizon will be a supported carrier.

First one in line at the Best Buy in King of Prussia, PA. Few employees have asked me WTF I'm doing here :lol
Another Gaffer who lives in KoP, *high five*. Can you tell me if they have Ghostbusters for XBox360 while you are there? I want to get it after work, but it would be nice to knof if they have it in stock.

oh my lawd - rogers is telling me the system access fee is not part of the bill so i'm not eligible for the $299 price - fuck you it isn't... i'm paying for the use of the wireless band and towers which makes it part of the wireless spending

gonna be a lot of people pissed off because of this

You can check store availability through the Best Buy website! ...but I'll check, just for you :D

I actually live just outside of Philly (Wyncote), but I work in Radnor. The BB near me doesn't sell Apple products traditionally, so I didn't want to risk them not having it.

Syncing my 3GS with iTunes at the moment. One minor quibble, the dock for my old 2G iPhone won't work with the 3G(s).. so I'll have to buy a new dock today also.

I'm so jealous! Mine departed Jersey at 7 so it's definitely in NY by now, now I wait until the UPS truck comes around.

Which dock did you have? Not the Apple one, right?

Yes, it was the official Apple dock that came with the first iPhone. The 3GS didn't come with an adaptor or anything so I guess I'll just have to buy a new dock.

That's sucks cannot use my old dock. Oh well.

Anyone buying the iskin revo2 case?

Got in line at the Durham, NC store at 5:30, walked out with two new iPhones at 7:45. I'd post impressions, but it's still restoring and syncing.

I've had one on my 3G since I got it last August. It's a little expensive for a piece of rubber, but I love it.

The docks are expensive for what they are.

Apple seems to do this every time. My first iPod (3rd gen) came with a dock. My first iPhone (EDGE) came with a dock. As a product exists in the marketplace, they always add features to it and keep the price the same. Invariably, at some point the dock is removed from the package (I presume as a cost-cutting measure). It sucks. $30 for a pass-through with an audio-out jack is kind of a ripoff. It might be a good deal if it came with an extra charger and USB cable. Though the outlet-charger is $30 on it's own...

A break from the 3gs talk: For golf fans, the US Open app's live video stream of the marquee grouping (aka the Tiger cam) is working great over 3g right now.

Back to 3Gs talk: I ordered on Wednesday and it still says that the order will be processed. No progress. Time to call. :(

Impressions on the "S"peed please. My best buy opens in 45 minutes!
Everything feels twice as fast compaired to my original iPhone. No joke. I've not noticed any sluggishness so far.

The difference in web browsing is night and day. It is much, much faster. Even my neogaf web app renders faster which is funny since it's not even complicated.

Peggle gets about 2/5 of the way through its loading bar and then is instantly ready to play. Switching between apps, especially Mail and iPod, is super fast; one screen zooms out, the other zooms in, and it's ready.

The video is surprisingly good. Voice control is 4 for 5 in my experience so far.

The UPS guy just came by my office and dropped off my 3GS. I almost wish he hadn't dropped it off so early in the day (9:30 AM here). Now I need to wait until my lunch break (noon) to set it up. It's just sitting there, tempting me!

UPS tracking failed again (two days in a row for me, with two separate deliveries). My phone left Albany, GA (about two hours north of here) at 6:00AM and the delivery guy just dropped it off here. I suppose it's possible that they dropped the phone off here on the way to the local depot, but I doubt it.

I posted this earlier already, but here it goes again: I was extremely impressed with the speed of the 3GS. It feels a lot snappier than my 1st gen Touch in regular use, and application loading an more importantly framerates were 2-3x higher for sure. I tested this with Zen Bound, the game I knew was chugging with framerate on my Touch on any more complex object level, but on those same levels, 3GS kept near constant 60FPS, which was 2.5-3x better than on my Touch, that kept maybe 20-25FPS at most on those levels.

In regular use, there was never a moment where I felt like I had to wait for the device to respond to an input, no matter what I tried to do. Definitely not the case with my Touch.

If Apple adds any more 1st party applications to this phone they're going to have to make a tough decision: which ones don't get shown on the front of the box? Settings is the obvious first choice, but after that?

So I was supposed to wake up at 7 to get to the Apple Store at 7:30, didn't go as planned because I was out with friends til 4. Anyway I roll out of bed at 8:30, get to the mall around 9 to see a huge line at the Apple Store. Saw no one at the AT&T store so I figured they sold out but I asked anyway...turns out they had a shitload left. Picked up my iPhone 3GS 32gb black 10 mins in and out. Now im just waiting for iTunes 8.2 to install so I can sync up :D

I was just about to post this. If this is the future of the iPhone, I welcome our streaming overlords. I hope the NFL gets an app going soon.

Until AT&T doesn't like our bandwidth actually being used.

Mine's out for delivery. Eeeeeee.

Let's not get that carried away about the new iPhone's camera specs, my old cell phone from almost 3 years ago still has a better camera :lol

I just got screwed by AT&T again! I was told on wednesday that I was not
eligible for the full reduced price 3GS. Yesterday I called them back to find
out how does one become eligible. They mention the following:

1. Bought 3G from July to September (check)
2. Spend more than $99 a month with us ($89 + $15 in taxes so that I can use
their service...check)
3. In good-standing with us (check)

They look at my account and proceed to tell me that indeed I am eligible...to
just go to any AT&T store and you should have no problems. I then looked at the
AT&T June 17 press release regarding the upgrade price for 3G users. On it, it
says 'if you spend over $99 with us'...not 'if your plan and features is greater
than $99'. So I there this morning waited 2hrs for them to open only to tell me
that I once again am not eligible for the reduced price! They tell me that my
play does not equally $99. I then proceed to call CS again and they tell me that
even if I had a 'plan equaling $99' I still would be eligible because I would
have to wait a whole year from the time I bought a 3G. Well guess what, 5 of
the people in line were also 3G users and they ALL left the store with a 3GS!!!

Are you fucking kidding me AT&T!?!

Maybe this is a blessing. My eligiblity is 12/12/09. By then, we should be
hearing something about the Verizon iPhone. If that takes flight I am done with
this shity carrier once and for all!!

IT'S HERE.

TTYL :D

Edit: It's syncing. I will say that the iSkin Solo case is awesome. It's really tight, not lose or wiggly like the silicone Belkin skins my family has, and anyone looking for a slim and discreet case should really, really give it a shot. All of the holes line up perfect, and the vibrate switch is super easy to access. I got it in black and really like how it wraps around the chrome making for an all black iPhone that's solid and not squishy or lose.

The back also feels good and adds a nice grip.

Got my 3GS this morning at 7am.

The browser is so freaking fast.. SO FREAKING FAST.

It loads sites in like 5-10 secs that normally took 25 secs on my Blackberry Storm

EDIT: I agree.. The iSkin Solo on this iphone is so sleek.. It looks amazing. Already got 2 compliments today about it.
