looks pretty cool. I would say I disagree because I like my ipod mini so much, but then It turns out that I got one of the initial batch with the faulty headset connector thing. Static is so horrible....

there is an ipod killer every week :)

To be honest to me the ipod has been done killed and stomped on by the Iriver over the past year or so, this mini-river is in the same category as the mini-ipod.

Personally Apple has done jack shit to the design, UI and features of it's players yet they still remain on top. Creative and iRiver seem to always be coming with new models thus development costs must be going right through the roof will little return. It's stupid.

Part of the problem, I think, is that they keep giving different model numbers. "iRiver H10" means nothing to me. It sounds like something out of a Trek movie.

No sports radio = no dice

You guys must be living in some real horrible areas of the world if you dont have ESPN FM or FOX SPORTS FM in your area.

The iRiver looks nice i wonder how much it will really be though. If its cheap cheap its got a good chance of kicking the mini's sales i think.

Well, Apple got it right the first time. All these other mp3 players are heinous.

The H10 looks to be the goods though more so than any player out there already. Basically I hope the 6th gen Apple atleast looks to it's competitors instead of offering minimal improvments.

I'm having some trouble with this statement.

most of the AM stations in my area also have FM stations. The games come in a lot better and they sound better too. I guess it must just be the are i live in.

The design of the iPod (simplicity and ease-of-use) is one of it's biggest selling points. I don't think they'll be changing it any time soon. It's perfect as it is IMO.

That thing is pretty sexy, but I have no use for a portable video player other then my laptop for the occasional flight so I will stick with my "inferior" Ipod. :D

Another ipod killer....that's a good one. The ipod name has become synonymous with mp3 player just as Xerox came to mean "photocopy". Fuck people STILL say "go and xerox this will you?" All these pretenders try and throw the ipod off the hill, but noone can touch it yet. They got it right the first time and have made incremental improvements in the players over the last couple of years while every other company is trying to copy the look and feel of the ipod. Spare me please.

I refuse to purchase any MP3 players until it includes an AM tuner.

:lol That's annoying me as well. "Hey let's include FM in like 800 MP3 products, but leave AM out!!"...dumb fucks.

And in terms of other products being better then iPod, it all depends what you're looking for, or what you're willing to pay. If you really wanna show off, you can get that Lyra player with the LCD screen that can play like 80 hours of video. Again, it all depends on what you want. iPod just happens to be the Kleenex of MP3 players in terms of brands...doesn't mean they're the best for the user.

Not that the rabid iPod fanboys in this thread give a shit. BLAH BLAH IT'S ON TOP AND SELLING FIVE MILLION TIMES BETTER THEN ANYTHING IT'S THE BEST LA LA LA...heh, it's kinda amusing. As long as it's great for you, who gives a shit how it sells? But I've asked that question on the gaming board for years and nothing's changed, so why start now...

I think the more annoying thing is Ipod-bashers who constantly post the next "Ipod killer" week after week. It's like saying there's an OS out there that's a "Windows killer". Sure Windows isn't the best OS in many people's opinions, but it dominates the marketplace just as the Ipod dominates the mp3 marketplace.

Why is this important? Well I can walk into any store and be faced with a HUGE display of Ipod accessories -- much more than any other product. If you're tired of going against the trend, and want something that you'll easily find support and accessories for, Ipod is the way to go.

For the record, my comment was meant to poke fun at the thread topic title, which claims this new device is an "Ipod mini killer". Perhaps a product will come along to actually challenge the iPod's market share -- but until it actually happens, it's pure unfounded hype and speculation to assume that a particular product WILL.

Next week, another product will come out that someone else will claim will be an iPod killer. And so on, and so on, as has been happening since the iPod was first introduced. Until someone out-markets the iPod, it's going to be very difficult for any company to overcome iPod's momentum.

Oh true, I agree with that as well...it's like in gaming, every genre has to have a game hyped up to kill the top dog. Nah you're right, in that sense I don't blame the iPod fanboys for getting all nutty. :lol

I'm thinking of buying a Lyra 1.5 gig player (and another player with a similiar size and price), since I can get a pretty good price for it. Not because it's an iPod killer, but because it fits my needs. That's all any motherfucker should care about. Let the companies worry about killing each other.

Having said that, I hear what SSGMUN10000 is saying as well...I probably wouldn't go the killer route though. Of course my thread would only have a half-dozen replies, but still...

Oh I agree with you, as long as you get what makes you happy it's all good. It just bugs me that people throw out statements like "Ipod killer!!" all the time when it's obvious to anyone with half a brain that Ipod dominates the industry right now. I've seen so many people with Ipods walking around (and it'll just GROW now after Christmas) that's it not even funny. My brother and sister have one, a few guys here at work have one, and a buddy of mine told me a story after he bought "another" mp3 player. He walks into work with his new mp3 player, shows a guy at work who then promptly takes out his ipod and shows my buddy. It took the guy 5 minutes of playing with the ipod before he decided to return the original mp3 player he bought and get himself an ipod.
