Yeah, I've got Mup.sys problems.
No, you won't find the solution with google.
No, there is no one solution.
The problem started when I did a fresh install of XP Pro on my SATA RAID 0 array.
It doesn't load windows. It freezes at Mup.sys (just after Mup.sys has loaded) in safe mode.
In regular mode, it would freeze at the XP loading screen (blue bar).
About 1/10 times it'll boot.
When it doesn't boot, it gives one little flash of HDD activity and stops.
When it does boot, the HDD activity light stays on while the HDDs work.
After I put in my new processor (or changes a few settings in the BIOS?), it turns out the loading screen would not freeze, but the blue bar would scroll for several minutes, with no hard drive activity, until I got a BSOD.
I don't remember the stop code.
Basically, MS said it could be caused by 3 things.
Boot sector virus - nope.
IRQ conflict - nah.
Something else that I don't think pertained to me.
Then I noticed one day that my SATA controller shares an IRQ with my audio shit.
There's not yellow ! by it or anything, and XP should allow for IRQ sharing.
Is this potentially causing my problems?
How do I manually set up IRQs? I can't do it in wondows because fo some ACPI crap.
I heard if I change the ACPI function to off in the BIOS I might have to reinstall windows.
Also read some shit about using legacy SATA IDE drivers during the XP install since my mobo allows for the use of PATA devices in IDE RAID.
Also heard some shit about ACPI if I have a TV Tuner installed.
I have another idea for when I do eventually format -
Install XP with only the drives, my video card, and my cd drive installed.
Then install my wireless card, and my tv tuner. This may let shit get put on different IRQs.
Or will it?
Is that shit saved by the BIOS in the ESCD or whatever data?
Anyway
XP Pro XP2
1 GB DDR400 (512x2 in Dual Channel)
6800 GT
2 Seagate 160 GB SATA II drives (jumpered to SATA I)
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (nforce3 board)
Athlon 64 4600+
ATi TV Wonder Pro
D-Link dwl g510
Some sort of Lite-On dul layer dual format dvd burner
Ideas?
(Reformatting doesn't work! Clearing the ESCD data or the BIOS doesn't work! I loaded the proper RAID drivers onto my xp install disc, unless I should have used the legacy ones... But I'm not using PATA devices in RAID)
