It's not just Google Chrome's terrible inability to display gifs. I'm now having problems where clicking a tab won't even load the page, the previous pages content is frozen in place.

It started this past week.

My chrome has never even had the gif problem, so I dunno :(

same. cant properly load gifs, pages get stuck and streaming videos too get stuck then I have to reload them.

Chrome freezes and crashes all the time for me. It gets stuck on webpages and will just keep loading. Eventually it asks me to kill the page. Yeah, that started last week.

I have no problems with firefox or safari right now.

Poor form Chrome.

Reinstall the whole thing, disable your current flash/shockwave plugins, it will force an update of flash. Mine stopped updating its flash (no idea why), acted like it had the latest plugins (NOPE). Disabling them prompted a new installation and it's been better since.

To answer your question, yes. Chrome (OSX mountain lion) has given me so many problems the last couple months....I finally dumped it for Firefox. I really hope they fix it soon, because I like having my tabs sync on my Nexus 7.

This. I had flash issues all day today till I disabled it and restarted.

I've been having a major issue with Facebook. A few elements will load, but then the page freezes and I can't click on anything. I have to kill the tab and restart Chrome to get FB working again.

Also lots of issues with gifs and image heavy pages.

Oh and my Chrome at work seems to have lost all download history, page history and other stuff, whilst keeping cookies, passwords and favourites...

Yeah, but for longer than a week. Issues with crashing/freezing/gif nonsense are starting to drive me up the wall. Looks like I'm gonna have to use the previously mentioned flash workaround too, hope that takes care of at least one of those problems.

Whenever I start a new browser session and click the settings button, it freezes for about 10 seconds and a CPU core hits 100%. Afterwards, the button works fine until I restart the browser again. Kind of getting fed up with this browser.

Mine's been shitty the past month or two. It keeps getting worse and worse though. "search google for _______" in the right click menu when you highlight shit doesn't work, shit freezes all the time, tabs won't show anything, gifs and images kill it, facebook is basically unusable.

Chrome has turned into a complete fucking mess. It doesn't even use less memory than firefox now, which is the reason I started using it.

I've actually been thinking about making this thread for the past week. Why the fuck would anyone want a full blown OS of this kind of shoddy bullshit?

I've always seemed to experience the major bugs of every release since it came out. Chrome was always just a second fiddle to Opera and Firefox, but I finally stopped installing it at all last year after having so many issues.

how many of you are running adblock? i have a conspiracy theory that chrome intentionally runs shittily when adblock is enabled

It's been unusually buggy for me for the past couple of weeks. Seems to crash randomly at least a couple times per day, and it can't handle displaying any more than a few gifs at a time. Definitely considering the switch back to Firefox.

Serious question.. Why are people using Chrome? I hear nothing but bad things.
Most people aren't having problems, I assume.

I've never had a problem with gifs or anything the OP describes. The only problem I had was a conflict with Flash on my desktop and the built in plugin for Chrome a few months ago After I disabled one of the plugins, it's been working as good as it always has.

Gifs have been loading properly for a while for me but pages with a lot of gifs get messed up and cause the scrolling to freeze.

Because it used to be really good and I'm too used to the interface/features to switch back to firefox
