is anyone playing viewtiful joe 2?

i thought the original was a little static and stiff in spite of its considerable style, but i'm still interested in the sequel. i've finally cooled on pop:ww, so i have $40 of gamerush credit to put towards something else. so, uh, why aren't there any gaf impressions of joe 2? how does the level design compare to the original's? do the ps2 version's graphical shortcomings outweigh the advantages of the ps2 controller? come on! you were all masturbating for joe a year ago; now you won't even buy his game? capcom am crying.

VJ2's taken a back seat to a half-dozen other games this year. I might feel differently if there was co-op. Still, I'll give it a rent at some point and maybe buy it once the price has gone down.

I traded in some busted controllers and got it, I've only just played till after the first boss to see how it was, Im trying to finish MP2 first

so far its pretty cool

yeah, some good stuff has fallen victim to the overabundance of excellent games this fall. if i still don't want prince 2 tomorrow evening, i'll probably pick up joe 2. ps2 version, i guess...i really dislike the gc's d-pad, and i'm not particularly sensitive to little visual discrepancies.

Picked it up on the Cube last week, and added it to my growing "Holiday 2004 Insta-Shelve Video Game Backlog."

Yeah, I've got the same story - with the November Games of Doom, something had to give. I'll get this eventually - not like there are a ton of new games in December to get.

VJ uses the d-pad? Why not use the analog stick?

I'd get it if the PAL version was out. I can't believe it's not out til March, VJ1 was converted to PAL almost instantly, I blame the PS2.

i played vj with the analog stick too. but the controls are entirely digital. i absolutely hate using the analog stick with games that call for digital control. but that's what the gamecube's sick mockery of a d-pad brings me to. how much worse is the ps2 version? maybe i should just get one of those snes-esque hori pads.

When it comes to Joe, I also prefer d-pads. I quickly got used to the Cube d-pad, so it doesn't bug me as much.

I doubt the PS2 version is significantly worse than the Cube version, but it couldn't hurt to wait until it's been released and impressions are given.

ps2 version isn't out yet? huh. i'd assumed it was a simultaneous release. i guess i'll wait then, thanks.

As far as visuals go, the downgrades on the PS2 version of VJ1 are negligible. Most notable is one or two spots where the game hits a small slowdown. As far as gameplay go, it plays perfectly fine with both dpad and analog (I actually played and finished the game using the analog stick), and the inclusion of Dante was nice, as his guns add a bit of variety.

the hori pads are really nice especially for GBA games

playing MZM through the GBA Player with that was sweet butter

I could have sworn they were announced for release in the US finally but don't know if that actually happened

I got mine at an Import shop in NYC for 20 bucks well worth it
