Is it just me or do most candies taste bad now? Im in america btw. snickers,kit kat,hersheys,butterfinger taste terrible now. Anyone else agree?

I think because of the lack of chocolate and making up for it with sugar. Dark chocolate >>>>> milk chocolate. Kitkat comes out with a ton of flavors and while I dig their dark and green tea flavors, I would.live for them to do a dark chocolate with coffee waffers.

As mentioned, thanks to climate change, cocoa yields are down, and have been since 2024. So chocolate makers are trying to make up for the shortage by putting alternative ingredients in.

I kinda wonder if the market would bear the price to maintain the product quality and size or if that'd just end up with heaving shelves if unsold product.

I'm not knocking you when I say this but it does seem to be a peculiar obsession of the British psyche, that chocolate (esp Christmas tins and Freddos), should maintain the same price and size from childhood to middle age and beyond, despite acknowledging inflation in every other part of life.

Depends what kind we are talking about here. I mostly eat Aero and it still tastes the same. Kit Kat and Twix also taste the same to me.

I read "candles" in the thread title and I expected something epic. Meh.

Anyway, ingredients have changed in the last 20 years. Most candies are too sweet and completely unsatisfying these days.
Also, growing up one usually (fortunately) enjoys sweet stuff less.
