I asked this question on Twitter and currently the responses are tracking about 1.5 to 1 against, but that seems quite even given the usual Twitter crowd (and in my industry, folks tend progressive).

Someone recommended a Sig Sauer Swat Pistol, which... come on. That's not a pistol.

What even is guns

So what say you, wise GAFfer?

Edit: typo

I already own several guns but I would say that this is being a bit over dramatic at this point. Italy has it the worst right now and their society hasnt completely collapsed.

If toilet paper shortages are the reason why you want to buy a gun, Im gonna say no.

I am not progressive, just someone from Europe and NO, it's never time for a gun. And on the top of that, in here you are worse with gun, than without anyway (your rights)...

And if you must buy a gun, at least buy a quality product, like a CZ.
I don't know if they are even worth a fuck, but they are just Czech and aside from drinking beer and watching porn, everyone could benefit from some of that Slav cultural enrichment.

I am for gun rights, but with that comes personal responsibility.

I would say right now is too late to buy.

With lockdowns happening, are you going to be able to get training on use? Safety? Where are you going to practice? Without a plan for the above, firearm ownership is more of a liability than safety, and the spiked bat will be a better implement.

You don't just buy a firearm and voila you are instantly the lone ranger able to shoot a can off a fence post from 100 yards away. It takes time, effort, and a not insignificant amount of practice to become proficient.

Is Corona virus deserving of buying a gun? I'm with the idea of defense but I don't need a gun for a damn virus I'm all about the atomic wedgies

Funnily enough I own a CZ-82, which is a dirt cheap old Bulgarian police surplus gun. One of the cheapest guns I own and the thing is probably my favorite. Its accurate, super simple design, and made of steel. Never jammed after I replaced the old magazines with new ones (the old ones spring was worn out).

People buying these really fancy new rifles that are complicated as fuck better learn how they work so they can fix them. Most of my guns are older surplus that I could probably bury in the yard for a year and they would probably still shoot just fine.

As a Brit that is very glad to live in a country where guns are extremely hard to come by, because, lets face it, far too many people are immoral idiots, I still think anyone who lives in a country where guns are legal and chooses not to own one (as well as getting training to use it properly), is being irresponsible.

Like any potentially life saving tool, it's better to have one and never use it, than to need one and find yourself up shit lane due to the lack of it.

As an owner of a CZ 455 ultralux bolt action, I heartily agree. Great trainer rifle.

I honestly did not even know that Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod makes something good. I only heard that Scorpion is piece of shit : D

It's never time to buy a gun. Not being funny but it's really fucking obvious.

Don't buy a gun. The US logic for buying a gun is literally the fact that people can buy guns. STOP BUYING GUNS!

Time to buy A gun? [laughs in American] 😂

I've honestly been wondering if it will come to people walking around with plate carriers and night vision. Hopefully things don't deteriorate to the point where everyone looks like a Modern Warfare cosplayer.
