is POP Sands of time better than POP WW?

i'm playing warrior within right now on xbox and i think the game is awesome. the fighting seems pretty slow, and everything seems to be running kinda slow, but the game is fun and i enjoy the puzzles. i like the art direction in this game. the castle is cool, the main villain is badass and the main character is well designed.

i never bothered to play sands of time. is it better than this game? why why not? im thinking of picking it up

Well, if you like the character art and storyline in WW, then it is a great game. The combat is definitely improved over SOT, and the platforming and puzzle elements are all pretty similar to SOT (i.e. among the best ever).

Most people were just disappointed with the change in the art direction and storyline, going from a surreal, dream-like environments in SOT to the gritty dark world of WW. Also, the charm of the characters and dialog between the Prince and Farah in SOT is gone, which is a shame.

I'm playing Warrior Within right now too and I'm enjoying the crap out of it. I loved Sands of Time, it was my favorite game of last year. But I can't really decide if one if better than the other yet.
I know that I've had some issues with some of the battles in WW so far but that's more because I wasn't blocking and dodging well enough.
I think WW might be a bit better just because the battles are a bit more challenging. Sands of Time was pretty easy, whereas this seems to be more challenging.

Both awesome games.

i'm not blocking or dodging enough either. also a problem i have with the fighting is when you are fighting those red ninja chicks, you can't vault yourself off them for some reason. they always throw me down :(

I've played about half way through WW and I just was feeling the same joy that I felt playing SOT. I thought maybe I was bored of the POP formula, but I went back and played through the entirety of SOT and loved every minute of it all over again.

Mechanically, the games are very similiar, but SOT has much more, I don't know, heart than WW. IMO, SOT is a much, much better experience than WW.

Yes.
SOT - Warm, dreamy, liquid platforming.
WW - Cold, nightmarish, guitar ridden angst.

If you play WW before SOT you might feel different, but I can't bring myself to play WW. It's too angry and angsty. *cue rock riff*

Sands of Time is more true to PoP roots.

Warrior Within (With its better empahsis on combat), despite all the hardcore edge given to it, is a better game. But I didn't think Sands of Time was GoTY material. Platforming in WW has been good too, just as good as sands. Break it down in numbers, I'd give SoT a 6 and what I've played of WW a 7.5.

If the style of Warrior Within doesn't bother you then WW is the superior game. If it does bother you then SoT would be better. But the fighting action in Warrior Within is much better. The amount of moves and attacks in Sands of Time is very limiting.

You can get SoT for 20 bucks now so it wouldn't be a bad investment to pick up. If you think the fighting action in WW is slow wait till you play Sand of Time.

Why you have not bought the messiah of action/adventure gaming on Xbox is beyond me!

I'm about 3 hours in WW and right now I like SoT better. I'm not saying that I don't like WW, but it seems like the puzzles and platforming in SoT were much more fun. Plus that dreamy feel is lost.

We'll see how I feel once I finish WW.

FrenchMovieTheme, I was having trouble with them as well until I figured out that its easiest to just throw them. Make sure you don't have a secondary weapon, walk up to them, and press "Y" (Xbox). You throw them (sometimes off a cliff) and it usually kills them.

ugh SOT > WW.. never liked the fighting to begin with. If i wanted that I could play Ninja Gaiden.

there seems to be lots of quiet moments in WW where it's just platform/puzzles.. then all of sudden *rock riff* the comments by the prince/enemies are SO awful. Those red kunoichis take way to long to kill too.
