is Shining The Holy Ark (Saturn RPG) worth getting?

I've kinda wanted to get Shining The Holy Ark for a long, long time. never did though. Is it worth hunting down used? whats my best bet, online used game shop or ebay?

Yes, both this and Shining in the Darkness are great dungeon crawlers with a lot of that Sega charm. I sort of prefer the original (I remember mapping it out ... all 12 levels on graph paper), but it's a worthy sequel, for sure.

I liked a loit years ago , great pacing and great characters with Elize and Bulzome .

The true prequel of Shining Force 3 , a really awesome game .

I hated the first person perspective in the dungeon parts. Also, 32-bit era 3D has not aged well. There's a lot of sprites, but it's not a pretty game. I liked the music, though. I finally sold my copy off about 3 to 4 years ago, and I haven't missed it one bit.

Heck yeah, one of my favourite RPGs on the Saturn. I loved the 1st person perspective, the music, and the pre-emptive sprite attacks.

Although that was like almost 10 years ago, so I dunno if it has aged well or not...

Pretty jerky and inconsistant looking, but I liked it. Hopefully Camelot's new Revolution RPG is a 1st person dunegon crawl. :)

i didnt see any mention of the ninja that joins your team and can learn the crit attack technique one shot kills on ANYTHING. So yeah ninjas and fun dungeon crawling. Anyone ever find all the faeries in that game???

As I've said before, Shining the Holy Ark is a great dungeon crawl crippled by tons of slowdown, mainly in battles. The slowdown makes some of the battles a chore, but everything else about the game is great (if you like dungeon crawls). Terrific music too.

Really nice dungeon crawl, though this was in the weird era where Sega decided all their characters had to be shitty sprites based on very poorly rendered models. God I hated that crap.

Yup pick it up. Very enjoyable game even though it's really easy. I remember most if not all the monsters have the same sound when they die.

Managing the party of characters is straightforward, the combat is well paced, and the game has a unique kind of gothic style. There are some good secrets to find, too, including a hidden character.

See I was gonna make a topic about this. So is Camelot just jerkin us around or what? Wasn't that supposed to be a Gamecube RPG for like 4 years now? WTF?

I really hope to see a new Shining Force on the next gen systems. Those games were sooo sweet. Sining Force > FF Tactics . FF was sweet too though. Just dragged on too much and I hated having to start over leveling up every time I switched jobs. Sometimes too much depth gets on my nerves and make the games get old and frustrating too fast for me.

The game is great. As mentioned, the music is awesome, but since the entire game is 1st person, and nearly all dungeons, what really makes the game is the level design. Every dungeon has it's own twist, whether it's riding mine carts, traversing waterways or
inverting the entire map and moving around on the ceiling using an artifact - that map is AWESOME
. Many of them even have destructable bits, such as walls and pillars that change the layout permanatly. Great dungeon crawl, one of my favorites.
