Is Spikeout any good?

The control ramblings here were awesome, I still wanna try it someday, but people essentially made it sound like you had to pull off a fataility to pick up a weapon.

It's akward.

And the game doesn't look that great. It feels like a Dreamcast game in many ways (both bad and good). There's something about it I like even though it's so corny. It definitely feels archaic.

Musashi nails it. It's basically a Dreamcast game (for all the good and bad that implies). For the good, it's a return to relatively simple arcade-style fare that the DC was the last good example of. For the bad, the graphics are poor for the Xbox, and like a lot of Sega's arcade ports, it's not bursting with extras. Picking up a weapon is indeed awkward, but it's not like a super hard special move. Press two buttons simultaneously and hold down :lol.
