My two week old DVD/CD drive stopped reading discs after I installed Moment Of Silence. Actually, it wasn't immediate, just started to get slower and then stopped reading after three days.

Son of a... I don't even play PC games all that much, yet I've got the thing on my system. (Probably from the Trackmania Sunrise Extreme demo I DLed three months ago.)

So much for playing that copy of Trackmania Sunrise I got off of GoGamer for cheap. Darn it.

I installed the Trackmania Sunrise demo and it also installed the Starforce drivers in my computer. I don't know if it is a coincidence, but my DVD Burner is having a hard time accepting blank DVD-Rs. Everytime I tried to copy something, I have to go through a full stack of blank DVDs for my computer to recognize one, sometimes I even have to restart my computer just to burn something. I'm having the same problem even with music CDs, my drive takes a long time to recognize one.

I was wondering if that's a sign that StarForce is messing with my PC or that my DVD burner is dying. I would try to remove the drivers before buying a new DVD burner. Is that StarForce removal tool safe to use ?

Yes, the StarForce removal tool does work as advertised. You need to reboot after using it, and also don't run any StarForce-infected games as they will likely as not reinstall it without asking you (seriously, what the hell? Since when should anything be allowed to reinstall itself after you uninstalled it without asking?).

Just buy the game then download the starforce-free warez version (before I get BANZORED, note I suggested buying the game)

I think most of the people complaining about StarForce use pirated software or have Daemon Tools/Alcohol installed. Face it, the only reason Daemon exists is to mount downloaded images.

Well, you CAN use it for other things. Granted, I suppose the majority of people use it for that, though.
