Is the touch screen on the DS replaceable?

Just wondering, considering it seems like some would get scratched. Can you buy a new screen to put on it, like you could with a GBA?

No. The GBA has a piece of plastic covering the glass LCD screen. The screen that you're touching on the DS touchscreen is actually the digitizer, which sits above the LCD and basically translates screen contact into coordinates. They're replaceable in some PDAs, but if it becomes scratched you generally just have to deal with it, although a few people have used cleaners to buff out scratches. Best thing to do is use a good screen protector and just be very nice to your touchscreen.

When I was browsing Nintendo's online store a couple weeks back I saw they had replacements available for the top screen, but for the touch screen you'd basically need ship the unit to them.

The screens in game stores are brutally scratched.
Especially the top screens I have seen. One kid I saw playing in GameStop didn't know that the top screen isn't a touch screen, so he was holding the stylus in a fist pushing the thing really trying to make it work.

Hopefully replacing the screen won't be a pain, I can't stand scratches.
