Is there a Firefox Extension that allows for URL aliases (like Avant Browser)?

For example, in Avant, I have it set where I can type "ga" in the URL bar and it comes to the Gaming-Age Forums. It's really convenient and saves a lot of time. Also, Avant has a feature where when I close the browser, it automatically saves all the pages I have opened and opens them again next time I use the browser. I'm looking for Firefox extensions that do these same things. I've already looked at the Firefox extension home page, but I assume it's not the only place you can get extensions. If these don't exist, I don't think I'm quite ready for Firefox yet.

You can even setup search keywords. I have one setup for looking up weather where I type "zip" and a zip code and it grabs the weather report for that area. Just right click on a search box and select "New Search Keyword".

Isn't it easier to put it on the Bookmarks Toolbar? one click. But yah, I didn't know about that keywords.

Awesome....I don't really like having to bookmark the site first since I plan on typing a keyword to get to it....kind of redundant. But oh well.

How about getting it to save my pages when I close the browser so they come back up when I open it?

They need to make an extension that integrates AIM into Firefox. With that and FoxyTunes, I'd be set.

needs to show more effort.
what may I ask convinced you to stop using Avant? I've been using it for a while and been decently satisfied. Satisfied meaning... not irritated enough for it to overcome laziness and make me try a new browser.

Eh, at work it was either IE or Firefox so I started using Firefox 1.0 the past couple weeks because I wanted tabbed browsing. Then I started checking out the extensions and it seemed really easy to customize so I thought I'd give it a shot. Plus Avant has little quirks that cause it to freeze up every now and then and I haven't run into that with Firefox. So now I'm using Firefox with pretty much all the cool stuff I was able to do in Avant, and it's a lot less cluttered and bloated.

AOL actually made this; it's part of Netscape 7.x...However, AOL owns the code and will probably never release it to the public, so we'll probably never see at as a Firefox extension.
