I want to get some ringtones on my phone but all the ones I want you have to pay for or something. Is there a special method of getting your own custom or free ones? My phone supports polyphonic ringtones and I wants some.

my friends used to pay for rings on their nextels but they got their hands on the software the stores use and the cable to hook their phone up to their computers and they got all their games, screensavers, and rings for free. im not sure how to get a hold of all that stuff though.

It's hard unless you have a cable and software.
I have a Nokia 3650. It's fairly easy for me, especially since we just purchased a new computer with a MMC reader. Incase you didn't know, there's an MMC right under the battery of the 3650. I put anything on there. Movies, Full Songs, etc. But still, it's hard to get ahold of *GREAT* quality Poly ringtones without a price tag on them.

If you have a phone that can DL from the net you can rip a song on your computer into a midi/mp3 then dl it with your phone. I have a friend who does that with his phone so he doesn't have to pay for the ring tones.

As for your first question, it all depends on your phone (I'm no expert on this matter anyway).

As for your second question, I'm pretty sure that there is only one type of 'midi.'

Yeah, I have a 3650. I make my own ringtones. You just take an mp3 of a song and cut out the part you want to use, convert it to wav, and stick it on the card.

I have a nextel I730 and I got my cable and a program that lets me put on games ringtones and wallpapers.... it is a life saver, I make ringtones out of songs, or whatever i want.... saves me alot of money...

Many phones don't have official cables... if you're stuck with one of these phones, there are unofficial cables, but they're generally used in rather unconventional ways and feature horrid (or even no) instructions.

I have one for my Nokia 3595 and I still can't get it to work. I have it all set up properly, but I can't even figure out how to access the damn phone with it.

That's exactly what I do. I want a new phone, but at the same time I don't because there are not a lot of phones out there that can do the shit the 3650 does and at that price. The only turnoff about the 3650 is it's size.
