Is there another Star Fox in the works?

I came across this image on another forum. Not a news site. It looks quite nice, could be fanart, could be real. Just putting it out there...

Not bad, although i doubt Fox would wear a cape.

Mmm... a Retro-developed Star Fox would be the next best thing.

I didn't think Armada was a bad game at all. Lots of good ideas not so great execution. I'd play a more traditional Star Fox game over it though. ONE THAT'S NINTENDO-DEVELOPED!

I don't know, at least Adventures had pretty environments. All Armada had were a few decent flying stages that were drowned out by bland, boring, and ultimately annoying and broken ground stages. =(

I don't mind ground stages like in Star Fox 64, though.

I can only hope that Adventures and Armada haven't damaged the franchise in Nintendo's eyes. I really, really, really want to see another proper StarFox game. Make it so, Nintendo!

Oh, and give me a DS version of SF64 with wifi, please!!

why did you post this ahahahahahahah

durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Why is the cape only attached to the left side of his back? It's obvious fan art, but capes don't do that.

I haven't played Armada, but I think that Nintendo should definitely looking into bringing back the series. I would think that a lot of series should get a healthy boost if they make use of the back catalogue downloads, so a new SF would work well.

I wouldn't mind another Adventures, so long as it wasn't another Zelda clone. If they really wanted to copy something, then gameplay in-line with MGS, RE4, or Halo would be more appropriate.

I think there's a chance of seeing another Star Fox Adventures game being developed. Star Fox Adventures had some rather decent sales.

Hmm... talking fox who walks upright, has a humanoid body and flies a spaceship. That's all fine.. but capes don't do that!
:p

It makes no logical sense...it's more of a flag than a cape. It is quite similar to the way Viewtiful Joe does capes, but that one isn't so awkwardly positioned.

This one makes no sense, from an artistic standpoint. Whoever made it clearly went for style over logic.

I say fake. Actually, the upper torso looks pretty darned convincing, but whoever drew that tail on didn't know anatomy well enough to place it as an extension of the spine (it's just... coming straight out of his butt currently), which hints that the work was amateur. (Then again, I've seen "professionals" make some really stupid mistakes.) And the tail itself looks kind of different from Fox's, anyway.

Plus, I've seen that Revolution logo before, at the bottom, pretty darned sure that was a fake.

I kind of liked some of what Starfox Assault tried, there was just not enough of a balance of on-rails missions. Before Assault was even released, I thought it'd be cool if they tried a Starfox MMOS, though. A single player campaign of on-rails missions so no one could complain (made using the existing engines and assets with the normal characters and plot), but an online campaign where you create your own pilot and venture out into the space-faring universe. You could try to solo it out in the galaxy as a bounty hunter of sorts (on-foot, in the atmosphere of some planets and in space), join armadas and try to take down the big occuring threats, salvage other people's wreckage for extra cash, or take jobs hauling or escorting freight through dangerous areas. A bit standard, I guess, but it seemed like Starfox would be one of the best licenses for Nintendo to take to a MMO setting.

I'd love a new StarFox game, but I don't think Nintendo will be so eager to create another one.

Well, I"m sure they will... just not by a 3rd party anymore. EAD could do a badass Starfox ya know.

No, it's fake because Nintendo hasn't released any sort of Revolution assets yet. The fact that Fox's tail is coming out of his asshole is just a fun added bonus.

I never got my Star Fox spinn-off, Jet Force Gemini spiritual successor featuring Falco. But something tells me I never will. ;)

Doesn't mean someone working on Nintendo's web development can't be stupid and expose planned webpage teaser assets early. (Exactly fits the mold of this, a white page with Fox facing away and a vague title.) That's never happened before on a Nintendo site, ever.

But I'm not arguing this is real, don't get me wrong.

The next StarFox game better take place entirely in an Arwing. No StarFox 64 or Assault, please. Flying the Arwing with the Revolution pointer would be amazing.

I disagree, given the Revolution controller design. It would be a perfect showcase for a flight game.

I'm also seeing a potential controller peripheral: a simple joystick base with some extra buttons on it. Too perfect, especially because it would be cheap to make and other games could then support it.

It doesn't... but Nintendo is very, very far away from the point where they would have any sort of assets ready for Revolution titles, let alone some kind of Star Fox wallpaper. Something that does not and can not exist isn't going to leak.

:lol :lol :lol

I'm wondering how a spaceship would control with the Rev. controller though. It could have potential for dual-wielding split screen control of two ships. At least, that would be the first thing I would be trying to do.

Well, shit, now because of this thread I'm wondering how he sits down in the cockpit without hurting his tail. I hate you guys.

p.s. i don't really care how he sits, furries

That's actually a good point. With the entire N-catalogue available (or at least possible), old Nintendo games will see a revival, but also, they will promote newer titles in the series. If Starfox SNES or 64 start getting huge numbers, you can bet it will raise an eyebrow or two at homebase.

You know, I hadn't thought of it that way. It could definitely be a good way to guage interest for a revamp. Interesting. Though I imagine we'll be seeing polls as well.

I assume that as an animal's tail is generally attached a bit further up the rump, it wouldn't be a major problem. Animals CAN sit on their tail as well, you know.

(Furries? On GAF? Surely you jest... NO! GET THAT AMPHIBIAN AWAY FROM ME, YOU FREAK!)

That's a good idea. If we want a Starfox Revolution game, we all have to massively download the previous games. :)

Apparently, Assault sold pretty well. So I don't think that they're going to bury the franchise. Expect to see one in two years, tops.

I wonder if we won't see a DS starfox first. Add in a little wi-fi multiplayer and it kicks immediate ass.

Or not.
Just don't let Namco (or some 2nd-class developer like Kuju Studios) screw it up

Worldwide sales, as of this time last year:

Starfox 64 - 4 million
Starfox - 2.99 million
Starfox Adventures - 1.69 million

And for Assault, I only have NPD numbers and the first few weeks of Japanese sales, but:

Starfox Assault - 373,381

Including the rest of the world and Europe, I'm sure that's well past the 500,000 mark now despite mediocre reviews.

So yeah, there'll be another one on its way. A series that has 9 million sales over 4 games isn't likely to just get thrown aside because of one poor game. Plus it suits the Revolution controller well.

Seconded.

Unless they're already too busy doing another awesome franchise.

I bet I can do a sweet barrell roll with the new controller
Yeah, you'd have to hold the controller with two hands and flick it so that it does a barrel roll in mid air. :lol

I just heard one of the tracks (remix) from Starfox 2 (the one that never got released).

sounded fantastic
