Is this really how it has to be? (Halo 2 related)

"You guys are pulling these numbers right out of your asses."

Seems like the typical posts on this forum that have to do with stats or numbers. *shrugs*

"He's right though, in all the online games i've played, it's always been americans with the foul mouthes and temperments. I weep for my fellow countrymen."

Let me ask you an honest question here. Don't you play on American servers where the player population is like 100 to 1 American? Also, are you versed in foreign languages enough to tell when you're being put down. Just curious.

No one is saying that all americans are trash talkers or racists, some of the nicest peeps i have encountered are americans.

This all stresses how important it is to be nice to others and maintain a healthy friends list. I mean fucking hell, they are just games yeah ?

Its funny because Xbox is somewhat the console of choice for urban brothas (Civilized and gangstas alike) and Racist Rednecks alike (there's no such thing as civilized racists).
Hey! Not all rednecks are racist.

And also, is online gaming the only outside world interaction you guys get? Because the trash online is about equal to the trash in real life. Only difference is you guys are choosing to try and play with that trash.

It's funny this thread came up as just today I received a clan invite to "xWhitePowerx" and had some idiot tell me something about a Native American, never to fight with a white man or something, and then finished off the message with "WHITE POWER!". On the same train of thought, I once received a voice message from someone telling me he hoped I got cancer, that my whole family was burnt to death and on fire, and that I ought to die in a fire as well. I wanted to keep that message but it got really annoying having it alert me of a new message every time I signed in. :(

My favourite-est of favourites on Xbox Live, however, is when someone will call me a British wanker or something similar and when I tell them "I'm from Australia, you Canadian wanker" they don't seem to get my point and simply reply with "I'm not from Canada".

:lol

No one has ever sent me a message or invited me into a party to talk shit. You must do some special stuff when you play :D

I said Racist rednecks regular rednecks were not mentioned. Would u prefer Anglo Racists? And who are "you guys"?

When I go out with my friends wether its Chicago, Michigan City, Bloomington or Indianapolis no we don't encounter the tons of racists bullshit comments you might see on something like XBL. Most racists are undercover A-holes and wouldn't dare call a black man or woman a "nigger" to their face because fundamentally, they're damn cowards and would get knocked out. That is why its easy for them to hide behind the veil of an XBL account and shout racists slurs at their leisure. Incidentally it is my personal belief that a racist especially an american racist is more likely to buy a U.S. made console than a "Jap" system like PS2 or Gamecube so the potential for a concentration of ignorant racists are higher among the Xbox community.

Its merely a deduction but I don't think its that far-fetched at all when you consider the varying alternatives. Racists gotta play games too.

If someone is being offensive, I give them negative feedback. What else is there to do? I've been in some rooms with Hispanics who spoke no Anglo, except when they wanted to, and they taunted me endlessly. I don't like it but so what? Just accept that there are idiots of every demographic, report them, and then move on.

I don't care what people say, I'm not going to avoid playing Live! just to avoid them.

Its called reality. If you seriously think that the absolute majority of trash talk, racism and vulgar language doesnt come from americans, you are deluded.

It would be really cool if you could mute certain countries.

This is an interesting point, because in my experience the least racist people I have ever met are my white American friends. The Australians / English that I have met while travelling were certainly more racist (whether intentionally or not), but not nearly as racist as my non-white (Hispanic, middle eastern) American friends. I think just the nature of the internet brings in the worst of the American population.

"It's not so hot to play together!"

NEVER play with people not on your friends list. The majority of online gamers seem to be assholes.

I had a couple games last night where people were talking shit for no reason at all. I had a guy on my team telling me I better not suck right before the game started telling me that he knew I was gonna suck cause of my name which he thought was gay. Is anyone else tired of the whole "gay" word. Its so gay. Oops. Anyway this idiot proceeded to talk shit the whole game telling me how much I suck and while I was having a bad game I ended up with 11 kills which was the highest on our team. only one other person tied me in kills on our team and we lost so all his shit talking was for nothing as he obviously didnt do better than me or help the team win in any way.

in another game my team lost we go to post game stats and everyone on my team is already gone and Im looking at stats and this one guy is talking shit and he sees that Im a level 15 and we had a 16 on our team too while they were mostly 13s I think. so he starts spewing some BS about how did I ever get to 15 I must have cheated blah blah blah. I was ignoring him for the most part then I started talking shit back to him and what do you know he leaves.

most of these idiots could care less if they win or lose and I think they just get off on talking shit and trying to make people get pissed and start talking shit back. there really is absolutely no point to it and I think some of the racist remarks are by people who arent really racist they just know thatll get a reaction out of people. I hate it when I let it get to me but some of those bastards are really good at pushing peoples buttons. mostly i just ignore them or put them on mute.

how do some people manage to stay on the mic the whole game? seriously there are some people who talk through an entire game. I even hear them when they are dead or I am dead. I just dont get it and it drives me nuts. Ive told people on my team to shut the hell up already more than once cause they just blabber on and on.

I think Halo really does have one of the worst communites of any of the Live games but Im not surprised by it. when I used to play the original Halo on XBC people would do a lot of the same shit except they had to type it and so it wasnt as annoying.
