OK heres the story so far
Tuesday before thanksgiving Im playing Counter Strike Source online no problem.
That following thursday (thanks giving), I notice anytime that I use the master server browser in steam it pings to like 100 servers and then it stops, If I were to try to open IE or Firefox it wont find a website. I have to close steam and after about 30 seconds it works (the internet)
What I know:
1. Any server pinging program does this (Steam, BF1942, UT2004, DSLreports.com Port scanner)
2. It does this on 2 sepereate PCs
3. It also does this with just the pc connected to modem (no router), and all firewalls disabled.
4. We had a line technician comeout and he said the signal was fine, no interference.
5. I notice if say im downloading a big file and do this the file keeps downloading fine its just the server list/internet that seems flooded
6. Ive reinstalled my O.S. 4 times and no viris or spyware (and it does this on 2 different pcs mind you)
7. I also notice that when it stall during the steam server pinging my SEND keeps sending out packets, but my receive is barely moving at all.
8. I even limited my upload to 10kb and dl to 30kb and it still gets "flooded"
9. Even when I was getting "flooded" by pinging with steam he couldnt see any major activity on my line (bandwidth usage)
The only think I can think of to do now is to swap the modem itself, and/or buy a new nic card.
Any ideas?
oh and here is a pic by pic analysis of what happens (i sent this to them)
