Recent videogame commercials have been atrocious.

Just saw the 'write go on car' and 'restaurant' DS commercials...what the hell happened to the once great marketing campaigns of the PSX and N64?

what is wrong with this, ummm?

What's wrong with the commercial where the guy writes "GO" on the car and it starts moving? I thought it was pretty nifty and communicated the idea effectively.

so is this a NINTENDO troll? j/k :D

your unapologetic lame thread title ensures that all who come into this thread have been lured in under false pretense. That in itself <<<<<< most tv game ads.

I LOVE nintendo DS commercials (ok, no, really I just love the guy in the breath one :D)

They get the job done dude. You're overreacting, last year's who are you ad with the kids running was one of the best game related ads Ive seen.

The Too Much Fun commercials from Nintendo of Canada are hilarious. Especially the one with the two parents, and then the mother breaks down, sobbing that she didn't even know what Nintendo was. Sony's Ratchet & Clank 2 commercials were also hilarious way back when. There are been some quality game commercials this gen.

Yep. Two years of buildup > two weeks of ads.

I liked the Pikmin 2 commercial. Also, the Jak 3 ending commercials have been pretty good. The first Ratchet & Clank transformation commercials were great, though it's kinda played now and I don't like the most recent one for Up Your Arsenal. Oh, and the Killzone commercial is awesome. Brian Cox > *

Funny how every Xbox commercial I can think of is either bland or bad, yet it's the console with the most momentum right now. Commercial quality doesn't mean much.

The Jak 3 commercial annoys me to no end, for the simple reason that
you don't actually get any of that CG in the game. Unless there's some special ending that you get for NOT doing everything in the game before beating it. If there's a reward for avoiding tasks, one that grants CG, then I'm sol

I liked that Xbox commercial with those island people talking in another language.

The low point, IMO, was when Sega ran a Smear campaign against the PSX and N64. Hilarious commercials, though. Just stupid.

The best commercial has to be the Dreamcast commercials after it launched though :D :D :D

Not the teasers where they'd show a pixellated screen with random parts of the face showing up. Those were horrible.

Maybe because you're opinion doesnt reflect what the majority think. MS done a brilliant job with advertising and hype, Halo 2 ad is one of the best ads ever.

bottome line is:
majority game-playing demographic = tasteless

Or maybe the marketing director who hired the box artist is tasteless, and the consumers just have enough good sense to not give a fuck that the art is bad if the game within is a quality product?

worst commercial this gen are either the 'she kicks high' or 'skateboard lodged up the gamers arse' commercials for the xbox, PS2 and gamecube commercials this gen are at least forgettable and bad...but the bad XB ones stick with you

and I cringe every time i see a tom clancey game's commercial...hell...the games suck too

edit: the only memorable commercials (this gen) that I didn't hate was a R&C1 commercial and the twisted sunday GBA one
