here is why madden sucks and why i felt the need to create my own thread about it:

1. passing game feels like shit. first off, i can complete bombs whenever i want. secondly, i can complete passes whenever i want. double, triple coverage, doesn't matter. the game makes no fucking sense. (Precision passing...Braylon Edwards catches EVERYTHING. He's a god in this game)

2. game moves too fast and is too herky jerky. i throw a ball and all of a sudden its caught and im tackled or its incomplete. i can't see the plays develop, i can't dissect defenses or anything. (Not so much so on Xbox, but it's still there)

3. the animations suck nuts. there are some decent ones in there, but these are the same animations we had in xbox version for the most part, only now they are completely sped up and disjointed. the animations dont flow together well. its like you get close to a ball carrier, then let the animations do their thing for the next 3 seconds.

4. qb running is ridiculous. hey EA, if alex smith could rip off 20 yards running at will we would be in the playoff hunt. he can't. so why can i outrun the entire D whenever i need a 1st down? (in my case Trent Dilfer... FUCKING TRENT DILFER!)

5. i feel like im not in control of anything on the field. i pick the safety, they hand off, i run up to make the tackle and the game stutters so bad that i dont even know wtf is happening. i know ive said this already, but christ it is a joke. there is no possibility to make plays on the ball, no dominating the run game, no nothing. ( I've had numerous situations where my guys block ME from cmpleting my routes)

7. crappy running game. there is no momentum, no strategy to running. speed burst ahead, randomly hit juke, repeat. (We won't even go into punt returns.....)

Ironically, these are the same complaints I have about Xbox Madden 06. What a POS.
It should say something when I have the Browns (THE FREAKING BROWNS) and only signed Ty Law that I have a 16-0 record on all-madden and most of the games were blowouts. This is my first year devoting any time to it.

I know the Madden lovers will flame me for it, but oh well. To me I miss NFL2K5..... I'm gonna go cry now.

I agree with a lot of FMT's points, except for the ability to dissect a D. Granted, I've only played the demo, but I had no problem moving the ball through the air. The ground game is ridiculous though. You can hit the outside with anyone and pick up 5-10 yards a pop. And I agree with FMT on the difficulties on D, it's tough extremely difficult to feel like you have some sort of control on defense.

All told it's a garbage first effort. They should have just ported what we already had with better graphics. I still have Madden 06 Xbox if anyone wants to play... only chumps sold it!

Yeah, I just got my copy this week from Pepsi and it's pretty crappy. It seriously is flawed in every aspect of the game.

I can't believe I traded in my GameCube (yes, I said GameCube) copy of Madden '06 in anticipation that this version would be superior. Boy, did I screw up there...

I played the demo and I liked it alot more than Madden 2006 for xbox (which was complete garbage). Madden fans need to stop bitching, the game cant remain the same forever and no it wasnt even close to perfect. I dont get the complaints about "not being in controll" on defense either. The controlls along with the toned down momentum make it much better than the xbox version.

I think it is fust of a reflection of the addition of ex-VC employees added to the team. Also, they might have felt like hardcore Madden fans will be there regardless and to attract ex 2kx fans they need to make Madden more like 2kx. Judging by THEDUCE's comments, that worked. But if they go further in this direction for next year's version, EA might piss off their loyal fanbase.

This is hilarious. 2k Sports is out of the football business and EA stans blame them for Madden '06 sucking ass. 9/11 was Hitler's fault!


Honestly, if the so-called gameplay issues were the only problem, I'd buy the game.

The reason I won't buy it is the removal of modes, the glitches, the suspect graphics engine (choppy), and in general the fact that it was a self-admitted rush job.


People who are angry at change are exactly the demographic lazy devs usually aim for.

This is why Live is the shittiest basketball experience on the planet every year.

You seem to have missed every single Madden championship. The game is broken and the momentum system was always garbage. As far as im concerned the gameplay is much inproved in the 360 version.

Madden was broken because you could exploit it and the opponent could do nothing about it. There were no money plays in 2k2-2k5. Ya there were certian issues but there was a counter to each one. If these games were fighters madden would have been laughed off the market years ago.

I had one, it was called running the ball. Never will I ever forget being down by 1 against Konex with 53 seconds left. The kickoff was a touchback so I was screwed on field position. I ran on first down and out of bounds for 15 yards. Next play was another run for 65 yards and the game winning TD. The line for that game? Kurt Warner 4/8 for 41 yards, Tiki Barber 20 Carries for 260 yards and 3 TDs. Now I know Tiki is awesome but not Reggie Bush v. Fresno State good. Not to mention the question as to why I would run in such a situation...

I'm pretty effective running the ball in Madden, but it's definitely not as ridiculous. If Madden were a fighting game, it'd be the Virtua Fighter to the 2K games' DOA.

What issue? Konex sucks, there I admit it. The run game is not overpowered in 2k5. It was much stronger in 2k4 but still not unstopable.
