I really hate having to ditch the old skin. It's so perfect IMO.

whats the deal with no .mov support? and is there an option to loop videos?

you can loop if you
1) add the file to your playlist (Y)
2) go to the Playlist (Black)
3) check on the Repeat option

and it plays some but not all mov's... i played that new GTA:SA mov on it :D

.mov support works. You might have to download the codecs for it to work, though. Don't know if they include them with the CVS builds.

I'll also comment that I'm upset about having to lose the Media Center skin. It was a lot nicer than PM.

I think they could re-tool the way they have the button stuff working. It's annoying that you can't really edit the key much anymore, because you'll make something in another screen stop working.

Maybe they could force skins to come with their own keymap.xml file or something, or atleast have very clear sections in the keymap.xml file for the specific screns (My Music, My pictures), etc.

How complicated is it to make skins? I'm pretty patient. Any other skins avail for d/l?

I'm sorta getting used to the new skin. I don't mind it much now. I think I prefer the main menu of the old skin, but I sorta like the colors and how it looks when I'm actually browsing through media.

Does anyone know how to get the movie trailers and web radio stuff to work? I see there are links for htem but they don't do anything.

I think the rewind/fastforward controls are much better now. I like how they are taking advantage of the analog capabilities of the R and L triggers.

And the best thing for me is most definitely full support for true type fonts. I can actually browse my japanese-named files through SAMBA sharing (almost) flawlelssly. I guess it's time to ditch XBMP and XNS now :)

Kiruku, there is a way...someone told me on this forum, try a search. You have to change something in an xml file AFAIR.

The analog fastforward/rewind, does that work with mp3s?

Maybe they'll reallow the skins once this bug fix phase is done.

Still, anyone tried ripping CDs to samba shares? I only have a laptop and its bloody noisy ripping CDs, so I'd like the xbox to be able to do it.

Also, anyone using a pocket PC web server? I tried it yesterday and its pretty good, but very slow to update, and it doesn't show what you are playing.

Hey guys. Back with more XBMC info, as I forgot about the thread.

To get the Movie Trailers/Web Radio to work, you need to have Python installed for XBMC, and you need the scripts.

Also, at the Xbox-Scene XBMC forum, there's a stickied topic at the top with links to the quicktime codecs, and *i'm pretty sure* there's a link to XBMC python.

I've been bullshitting on getting this release due to the skin issue. But I'll go and grab it tonight I guess.

As for the mediacenter.xml, is it safe to just copy the old one? I'm using the 2nd to last XBMC release btw.

which one is the mediacenter.xml? Can't remember off the top of my head, and I'm at school so I can't check.

If it's the one with all your <bookmark> settings, I'd probably overwrite it.

You can always change your samba bookmarks through the webserver as long as you've got it enabled.

SWEDISH PERFECTION
I don't like the new skin much. The pop-up menu during movies is worse, much worse. Why group the buttons together like that? I don't get it. Also, you can no longer see how far into a movie you are on the same menu (yeah, I know you can press a different button for that, but still). I guess I'll just have to change back to the old skin.
Wait, it's not possible to change skins anymore? Blast.

And Fight for Freeform, thanks for the tip! Gonna try it later tonight.

The mediacenter.xml is the only think I make changes to.
