Anyway, drive a 2001 BMW 325i saloon in black. No changes to it because insurance on mods is a killer. It did come with 18" M wheels though :)

Here's my new ride. I've had it about a month and a half and I'm loving it so far. It's the 2005 Nissan Xterra with the redesign across the board. Nice vehicle for getting outside and off the road. The new 265 horsepower engine doesn't hurt much on the highway either. :D

No modifications. We did completely spec and custom order both of them, however. Waited 4 months for the base Cooper and about 9 months for the S.

Contour SVT, but very unfortunately I don't have any recent pics, my car has over 200 HP and ~ 2900 LB curb weight and I do have a chip on my shoulder :(

I gues this is as close to my car as I could find, only substitute those rims for 8 spoke rims:

2001 BMW 325xi.

No changes done to it. I am thinking about getting nicer tires though, that is about the extent of what I will do to change my car. I don't really care about how fast I can go from 0-60 anymore, as long as I like the way my car looks and the way it handles I am happy.

I regret going with the automatic sometimes though, but not when I am stuck in a traffic jam. And this way my fiance can drive it too.

My project car

Bought her for 500 bucks....I've put a little under 2 grand in her so far... that was expected.

Next I've got some bondo-ing to do on the rear right side wheel well. RUST KILLZ
Soon I'll put in new carpet and a head liner repair... maybe 2000 jetta leater seats but i need a special bracket for that.
On the not so important side I went with a Sony MP3 player and 6 speaker reinstall

Worst thing has been the power steering going up ... I thought she threw a rod from the sounds she made...However, the engine runs strong; she got a clean Bill of health from My mechanic. (knocks on virtual wood)

These are pics before I got the work done

If this van's a rockin', don't come a-knockin'. The back windows are nicely tinted, too. It's my university shag-van. Once I'm out of school with an actual income, it'll be a good car with even more tinted windows.

man, what do some of you do for a living!!

I drive a 98 Subaru Legacy Outback. I'm looking to trade it in.

hey lumix, how do you find compteting in sm with the sr5? don't you have to contend with vtec+turbo and supercharged m3's? and i noticed that you didn't list any R tires...

Lumix

Member
My daily driver SR5 wasn't really competitive in Street Modified. Slow acceleration, and no limited-slip.

I used it in that class because:

1) I had to save the GT-S for another event the following day.
2) The GT-S is my normal car in SM class, with my points card. I have to run in that class to earn points for the regional championship season. Otherwise, I would be listed as ROC (Run out of class) and not earn any points for SM.
3) The Japanese bumpers were illegal for the normal classes (DSP, STS). So I would not be able to run in those classes, anyway.

Also... I do not really use an R Compound, because I kind of have a deal with Falken Tire Corporation. So, I still use sets of Azenis RT-215.
I would like to try the new RT-615, when it is available in size 185/60/14.

I also good things about Kumho V710s, though. I might be looking into getting a set in 195/55/14.

robox

Member
haha, figures...
hold on, i thought body kits were allowed in sts but not dsp. not like that matters when you wanna earn points...

sponsorship... grrrr..... ::green eyes::

are they still making the rt-215s? i plan on getting a set soon but it seems everybody's changing over to 615's, which cost a bit more

130HP of economy-class gas-conserving DOHC power. Whoo!

Only modifications I have done are to the audio system. Three 8" JL subs in the back, MBQuart speakers in the front, a Clarion receiver in the dash, and a pack of gum in the center console.

You can watch all the crash test film online. The thing is just as save or more save then any other compact car. I love when they show it go head on with a full size Benz. Then the guy rolls over and click the doors open and the cockpit is still perfect intact. The whole front of the Benz is crushed but the Smart is ok. It has no real crumple zone so it hits hard but it maintains it's shape.

You're right, Smarts don't break in crashes. And you can make them go fast!
A good friend of mine had a Garratt uprated turbo (T26?) with an ECU mod, switchable TCS and wide front wheels to stop that chronic understeer they suffer. A lot of fun.
Lumix. Having two Truanos is just greedy! Nice rides, I really covet those Japanese FR hatches. And we have an S13 in the thread too! Good times.
A bit surprised I'm the only one running a bit of French rallying love...
C'est la vie!
