Itunes Question JERK!

the answer to this is probably somewhere in a faq online or something, but im full on BBQ ribs right now and too goddamn lazy to look it up (i got that ITIS?). Anyway, long story short, my brother reformatted the HD of the comp that i use for Itunes/Ipod, and deleted all my music. Anyway, my questions are:

1) can i just add 4 or 5 songs to my Ipod by throwing them on Itunes and plugging it in? Or will that just wipeout everything on my IPod EXCEPT for those 4 or 5 songs?

and 2) since all my song collection is gone, is there anyway to get the library back on the PC from the Ipod? Or do i have to go back, CD by CD, through my collection to get everything back?

make sure that the itunes is not set to auto update things on your ipod turn any option that looks like that off! Then you should be able to add a few songs and drag them over.

to get your library back, download copypod and follow the instructions in there. from memory you copy the files etc, which look junky, then you import them into itunes and it reads all the tags and names them appropriately. then once it's all back you can turn all the autosyncing back on.

1) I'm not sure on this one. I did the something on a friends computer but it only worked for a few songs. After a while it started telling me to reformat my iPod and it wouldn't let me add anymore songs.

2) No.

I really don't like iTunes. I don't understand how the iPod can be so good and only get better yet iTunes remains a shitty piece of software.

the difficulty of getting tunes from ipod to itunes is because it's probably not allowed to go that way by law.

What do you mean it's shit software? How is itunes shit? It seems to me like it's one of the most memorable and best bits of software in ages. makes updating your ipod a breeze.

Yeah, it's actually not that hard to get songs from ipod to HD; I had to do it earlier this year when my HD crashed. It's actually kind of nice to know that even if it crashes again my music collection is safe.
