Ok, I'm currently using iTunes and am trying to import some CDs into my library. My problem is that when importing, the speed is god-awfully slow. It's like importing at 5.8x whereas my home PC can import at up to 13x. This PC has a TDK DVD Writer that can read CDs at 48X whereas my home PC's is a CDRW Writer with 48X CD-read as well. Anyone help me out here? Also, when importing, my PC seems to "lag" a lot and any music playing in iTunes would not play properly, like the music would break up a lot. I have 1 gig of RAM so this should not be a problem at all.

You really shouldn't be playing music while ripping.

Plus make sure the CDs are clean, and if they're burned CDs, find out their speed, etc. I find when iTunes is unusally slow its one of those two things.

Oh the CDs are clean for sure because they are brand new.

And when I was importing the CDs using my home PC, I got a speed of more than 13x.
