I've got MY PSP PAL ! [pics]

someone test the videos! I heard a rumour that the UK has been put in region 4, along with Australia.

I guess that would make some sort of messed up sense, seeing as how the PS2 is the same region in the UK and Australia. Sucks if true though, since it means my Japanese PSP won't play UK movies.

As far as I'm concerned PSP + Wipeout Pure + Virtua Tennis World Tour + Pro Evolution Soccer 9 + GTA: Liberty Stories + Lumines = NDS killah!

:D
Add in Ridge Racer, Metal Gear Ac!d, Everybody's Golf, and even Twisted Metal for more fun. Don't forget additional upcoming titles like Pursuit Force either...

The last thing you want to do is face the PSP off against the DS in a list war...at the moment, you'd lose that pretty badly.

Not in the US or Europe...

This list is a bit old, so it misses a few games. In the case of DS, Nintendogs (83% average) and Advance Wars (91% average) have both shown up, so that would improve its lineup quite a bit. Of course, even ignoring ratings, no victor could really be declared in a "list war" here. Of course, in Europe, it's a different story, where the PSPs launch lineup is quite a bit better than the DS lineup. As we are talking about the Euro PSP launch, I think that's where our focus should be placed.

I told people in a mainstream forum here in Scandinavia that I think the PSP is seriously overpriced at 400 US dollars. And 150 dollars more for a memory card that`s actually useable.
People went berserk, calling me an idiot and that it was a reasonable price.

I then told them that the Xbox 360 will only cost 20 dollars more, and they went berserk again bashing me and the 360 quite a bit. Sony seriously have people by the balls here.

PSP will make a killing in Europe. People are going nuts for this thing.

Don't try to use reasoning or logic and just go with the flow.

Ok, so it turns out that UK UMDs are in fact Region 4, which bundles us with Australia. As opposed to DVDs where we're Region 2 and with Japan. That sucks :/

Really? My video game guy told me that JP PSP's would play EU UMDs, as he'd tried earlier this week when they arrived.

:S I dunno, could be a load of crap. Saying that, I've also read on forums that Region 4 UMDs play fine on Jap PSPs :lol

Man, you woldn't think it would be hard to have a definitive answer either way.

Well, I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Not long to go now. Hopefully somebody will bother to pop down to the shops tomorrow and have a butcher's at the back cover of a UMD movie to find the region number, then we should have some idea of whether it'll play or not.

Most European PAL DVDs are dual-region coded for both regions 2 and 4, to save companies the pain and cost of having to author different discs for the Australian market. Maybe UMD movies are the same? I guess we'll see soon enough.

Cool, I didn't realise that :) Although it makes the stories of R2 DVDs working in Aus and R4 Aus DVDs working here with no problem more believable.

so a JPN machine can play UK discs (R2); an Australian machine can play UK discs (R4); a UK machine can play JPN discs (R2); an Australian machine can't play JPN discs (R2)

I actually saw today a Tartan Asia UMD for sale in Virgin Megastore near Piccadilly, didn't have any region code at all. Other stuff had mock-up boxes waiting for the launch.

crap.

what i need is:

japan psp plays australian discs (r4).

every other combination is useless to me. stupid jap umd's are so expensive :(

Holy shit. I read that the Scandinavian distributor expects to sell 100.000 PSP`s in Norway (only 4 million people) before christmas. This will propably mean 2-3 millions sold in Europe before xmas.

100K is impossible. PS2 sold out during the Christmas period in 2000 in Finland with a shipment of around 8K devices - 5 million people. They must have meant 10K.

The distributor expect to sell 80 000 PSPs in Sweden (9 million people) before x-mas. So 100 000 sure sounds like a lot for Norway. :P

Well, we`re propably twice as rich so... ;)

Anyway,

http://www.vg.no/pub/vgart.hbs?artid=288708

Says 100K here.

Either Norwegians are huge Sony whores, or some of these estimations are plain wrong. :P

Here's the Swedish article BTW:
http://www.di.se/Nyheter/?page=/avdelningar/ITNyheter.aspx?menusection=ITTelekom
80 000 in Sweden before X-mas according to Nordisk Film.

BTW...maybe I'm just missing something, but I don't see anything about 100k being specifically for Norway, but rather what the Scandinavian distributor aims at selling before x-mas? Nordisk Film is also the Sony distributor here in Sweden after all. :P
