new releases in bold.

Terrible day for new releases apparantly. I'd be excited for Gunstar Super Heroes except it was outsold by SMB. That doesn't give me much hope at all for high numbers. >_>

yeah, it looks bad for gunstar, being under smb it could've sold around 6,000 (or lower) on its first day :(

What do you think Nintendo's combined investment for the two brain training games and the reissue of SMB was?

$150000? Maybe? They are seriously milking. And who can blame them?

Well Iwata said during his TGS keynote that Brain Training (I'm assuming he meant just the first) took less than 4 months of development time and the team was less than 10 people at its peak.

Mushiking on the DS is going to go nuts! :lol

And Brain Training Keeps on a Chugging

Looks like Gunstar Super Heroes will get about something less than 25,000 sales this week. Isn't too bad for a GBA game really, as they rarely sell over 100,000 nowadays. This is especially good considering it is a shooter, which doesn't usually do very well.

Here is a list of several GBA games that have charted recently for comparison. Gunstar Super Heroes should probably get to about 50,000 over the next 3 or 4 weeks if your prediction of 25,000 is close.

That's just so amazing. If Nintendo can harness this retro power right on Revolution... my god. :O :O

I know it's anecdotal evidence, but since the Micro came out, it's the only handheld I've seen in the hands of Japanese. Of the shoulders I peered over, the original Mario Bros was the only game anyone was playing. All of them seemed like young salarymen.

They sure like to do things in packs, eh?

SAD NEWS
Japan daily will end on Oct.19
Oricon has offered daily data to Goo and Yahoo but it announced the end of the service

fix
Oricon officially announced that it will not release any game charts on its website.
But, so far, Oricon did not say anything about the daily chart of Goo and Yahoo.

:/

Would a petition change their plans?

That dude with the miyamoto wonka avatar is going to have to find a new hobby!

this is terrible terrible news.

im sure something will be done about this though. i think GAF as a whole wouldn't be able to hang. too many people would snap without the sales.

people might have to go back to enjoying games for what they are instead of how much they sell. :O :O :O

This is how I imagine a conversation between Nintendo execs and the Mario brothers:

Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar.
You're gonna go far,
You're gonna fly high,
You're never gonna die,
You're gonna make it if you try;
They're gonna love you.
Well, I've always had a deep respect,
And I mean that most sincerly.
The series is just fantastic,
it's cleaner than a squeegee.
Oh by the way, which one's Luigi?
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy,
We call it Riding the Gravy Train.

We're just knocked out.
We heard about the sell out.
You gotta get a game out.
You owe it to the people.
We're so happy we can hardly count.
Everybody else is just green,
Have you seen the chart?
It's a helluva start,
It could be made into a monster
If we all pull together as a team.
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy,
We call it Riding the Gravy Train.

The way that Made in Wario just keeps chugging along is amazing. I'd love to see a definitive, updated sales number rather than any sort of rounding.

This means the DS is enjoying another strong week.

This Wario Ware was a launch game and it is missing any kind of multiplayer.
Feel the Magic 2 seems to be focusing on the multiplayer side.
So it's pretty obvious the next Wario Ware installment will also be multiplayer centric. If so, it will sell like crazy.

One of the DS Fey Factor of Success is its ability to offer the easiest multiplayer experience (one cartridge only needed to play/test most games, non consuming wifi battery, etc.).

Second generation multiplayer DS games will take Japan by storm. The DS really is the best bet Nintendo took in years. I strongly applaud Iwata's flair.

Wow. The fact that you could substitute the September 10 chart with the October 10 one is scary.
