Cool video where this traditional sword fighting master breaks down fight sequences and rates different movies, both Japanese and American, as well as some TV shows.

Notable: Masaki Kobayashi's Harakiri (the GOAT) gets gushing remarks, and he says watching the movie at 16 years old changed his life. Kurosawa's Yojimbo also gets top marks.

Aside from those two, some of the highest praise actually goes to the Cruise Missile in The Last Samurai, who he says "moves like a true samurai." Eat it, cultural appropriation crybabies.

It's hard to hate on Cruise.
He's so cheesy but also sounds like a bit of a legend outside of the movies. Flies his own fighter jets, does his own stunts in Mission Impossible and now confirmed to move like a true Samurai.

Harakiri and Yojimbo are definitely in need of a rewatch from me, especially as it's Ghost of Tsushima season.

Cruise is an obsessive acting savant, I'd be more surprised if he didn't earn respecto
Edit:

I got some samurai movies to watch now

Why Honey? Are you playing with those swords again?

SHUT UP MOM I NEED IT!

You may laugh, but come the Zombie Apocalypse, you want that guy on your side...so you can push him into the horde and

If the zombies win, they'll be too busy chowing down on him to see you escape, and if he wins, you know you've got yourself a viable tactic going forward. Win/Win.

As much as I dislike the guy and don't care for his movies, still got a ton of respect for how much dedication he puts into his roles.

It's so damn impressive. I saw that behind the scenes thing of the last mission impossible with him flying the chopper. Holy shit dudes insane.

Yeah if he was the main star of a film it used to really put me off but I've softened on him a lot over the years. He's certainly dedicated to his craft which is pretty admirable.

I love how open the Japanese are with their culture. They seem to really enjoy just sharing it with people

That sword master should rate this master of stealth

When he hits the whole package of water bottles with the Katana, i am not sure of the package falls because he actually hit it or because his gravitational field kicked it out of his orbit.
