Jason Statham is seeking...SHELTER

I also think what I took for granted (and what modern action stars are missing) is the fact that Arnold would still pick more challenging roles within broader genres than just action/thriller.

If Statham was the guy back then, would he have chosen roles like Total Recall? or Kindergarten Cop? or Twins? I'm just not sure.

Plenty of big action start type dudes are doing various levels of comedy or doing various genres.

I was actually pleasantly surprised at how Equalizer 3 had an old-school slow buildup to it's climax. Both the direction and pacing were very different from the first two movies.

I felt this as well. Very old school, then became like a slasher movie for the last 20 minutes. It was like they let Jason (from Friday the 13th) loose in the house

Speaking of Jasons. As much as I try to love his movies and support action cinema. Not all of them work, or have the budget or writing for what they are trying to do. Still can't fault the man for doing his thing in each movie and like mentioned. If you want to see him mix roles. You can't go wrong with lock stock. Or snatch. (Wasn't a fan of spy, but his performance in that is pretty good and his sending up of being in an action movie. Comes over pretty well)

I'll take the beekeeper 2, for later this year or maybe next (I think it's directed by the guy that just done nobody 2). Ridiculous movie, but the first is still his best in a while

Working Man was the worst of his that I watched. And it was really pathetic how it tried to pretend to be John Wick thing with a High Table and and little secret assassins club. Also felt that like 90% of the people he killed didn't deserve it and didn't really have anything to do with what he was tracking down lol. Sure they were criminals, but like they were just minding their own business.

From the director of Kandahar, Shot Caller, and Greenland. Could be better than the last couple ones from David Ayer which were trash.

CG gunshots have really lowered the bar for a gunsgalore shoot em ups. It can easily fall into super lazy blocking and extras just waving guns around like they are plastic toys. Obviously the safety aspect merits the use of that tech and it allows for those brutal John Wick face shots, but it's made for a lot of lazy films that get boring in ways that the older "blanks and squibs" films weren't.
