PS: North American sales only.
Actually US sales only.

Pokémon RuSa's done pretty well for itself with over 13 million sold worldwide. Not as amazing as the franchise managed on GB/GBC but still enough to make it the best selling game this generation... if Pokémon's "dead" then Madden, GTA and Halo are "dead and buried". ;)

Updated with new stats. I've never kept track of the GCN titles as someone (Anihawk?) used to in the past.. he for some reason quit though.

I never quit. I just never posted a topic specifically for them. They always turn up wherever bunkum posts the numbers.

Pokemon is dead :(

4 million and still selling 100,000 a month, madness. They'll break the 5 million barrier and might go a bit beyond that.

Fire Red and Leaf Green are out next month. Ru/Sa will be cheap! I'm not sure whether I'll be getting Ruby cheap or getting Fire Red. Has the difficulty been stepped up vis a vis the new ones vs. the original games?

If anything, they've become easier judging from the Japanese versions.

Wow, at 100,000 a month, they are going to probably end up selling more than any XBox or GCN title, with only a few PS2 titles having ended up selling more...

If FireRed and LeafGreen weren't coming, they'd probably end up at a good 6 million, but I'm sure the new games will put a little dent...

That said, if there is 100% compatibility in Pokemon exchange with FiLe and RuSa, then maybe it'll even help sales when word-of-mouth spreads and all the kids will want to own one...

I think FR/LG will do best with the nostalgic fans and current fans who were too young to play the original Pokemon games (as in kids born in 1999 and above).

I think the wireless adapter is really going to push these games, too. I'm expecting huge sales, even for Pokemon.
