And probably won't be on sale for long, between eBay scalpers and ravenous fans.

If interested, check the link and see if there's a city in your area that's got 'em:

The Fandango button will take you directly to the purchase page, but if you have to use a MovieTickets.com link, you will need to select June 23rd from the drop-down box. Buy tickets for "Special Advance Preview" (obviously).

Not all cities have tickets for sale yet, so if nothing comes up then keep on refreshing. Rumor is that tickets will go on sale around noon (local time) for each theatre, but plenty have already jumped the gun.

Tampa and Miami and others are on sale right now....Boston, Seattle, Houston, and LA are sold out.

There's still tickets for the Hartford, CT show if you're willing to drive :D

EDIT: I guess Providence would be closer, and they're not sold out yet either.

MovieTickets kept giving me errors when I was trying to buy. They have this generic error message that pops up and says that they will be "up and running" within the hour.

All I did was start over again in a different tab or new browser. Hitting the back button and re-submitting the information only gave me the error message over and over, but as soon as I started in a new window it went straight through.

This is a stupid and annoying promo tactic (because Houston is sold out and I can't get in to see it). Just unleash the expensive marketing campaign and release the movie already.

I really never understood how all this is supposed to help promote the movie itself. Tickets sell out within an hour (and as quickly as 5-10 minutes in some cities).....they're only going to hardcore fans that would have been getting the word of mouth out anyhow. The events aren't big enough to generate massive press either.

Only Charlotte, Miami, Phoenix, and Vancouver are left as of 3 PM EST. If you missed your city, try eBay or pray that Universal continues with monthly screenings in July and August.

This asshole not only bought 15 tickets to scalp, but he's trying to sell them all in one lot. Who the hell is going to buy 15 all at once? At least be smart about this stuff, people.

You know, all these advanced screenings may backfire. The people going to these are the hardcore Firefly fans that would have seen the movie when it was released (hell some are driving hundreds of miles to the screenings), which may hurt the box office if the target audience has already seen the movie months in advance.

I forgot where I read it, but apparently the tickets sold during the prescreenings will be counted in the opening figures.

Most of the hardcore fans will probably see the film on the opening weekend, if only to see the completed version. The one they're showing now has very rough special effects and a temp score (music was a pretty big part of the show). Plus each round of screenings probably isn't accomodating more than 6000-12,000 people.....which is pretty much just a blip in the potential audience.

I am surprised theat Universal is continuing with the screenings though, because each one is another chance for the film to be recorded and leaked....legitimately ruining the project's commercial viability.

Nothing like the last minute! The wife and I were able to finally score a pair of tix to the screening tonight in Cincinnati. Big thanks to Border for pointing me in the right direction.

This has been a pretty good week for me, movie wise. I'll have seen Batman, Serenity, and Land of the Dead all in one week!
