Kameo - what, it's over?

What the...? It just started. It's already over? But nothing happened yet!

Well, I actually kinda liked it, otherwise I wouldn't have played through it. But it's really damn short and the last boss was LAUGHABLY EASY. And I suck at games. I hardly updated any of my warriors abilities, collected only a bunch of elixirs and it was still unbelievably easy.

The battle system was a mess, there were some incredibly annoying sequences and the voice acting and the script were horribly over the top and clichéd. I'm starting to wonder why I liked it. Well, the music was pretty nice most of the time.

But damn, was this game short! It took me about 8 hours and it felt like 6. How long did it take you guys?

And also can I do something special now that I finished it. Can I
kick Mystic's ass somewhere or what?

It took me like 12 hours. I spent a little time investigating the landscape of the various areas. I agree it's not long, but the length didn't bother me that much (about the same as God of War). I actually spent a little time after beating it searching for some more items. I think it's a really good game, with fantastic music.

i just rreached thorn. 15 hours, but i explored the entire world, the first few hours was just wandering around the enchanted kingdom checking out the graphics.

8 hours is more than enough for me... I understand that when you buy less than 12 games a year you are kind of dissapointed in the game. But I buy about 100 games a year and than a short game is really something I like, because than I have the time to play it through. Short and heavy, I like it.

I actually put around 10 hours into Kameo so far, and I think it's a great game. I'm playing it like Peter Moore told us to and I'm exploring around :D

I'm sure I'll get 25 hours out of it, which is not too bad at all.

It's a typical Rare game, and since I love Rare this is a very good thing indeed.

i agree , i am starting to like shorty well made games over longer just ok games.

time is becoming less and less for me and a 10-20 hour game i can actually make myself complete where a game that is 60+ hours never gets finished it seems.

im slow with games in general, 8 - 10 hour games take me a month to complete. I cant really stick to single player games more than maybe 2 hours during a daily session. With RE4 im currently sitting at 30 hours and i've still got some way to go.

Fable even took me between 20 - 30 hours. :lol

With Perfect Dark taking up most of my time, its hard to finish Kameo

I don't mind short games at all. The problem is that it FELT really short, too. The graphics were breathtaking most of the time but then there were those enormous landscapes textured with exactly ONE tile, used over and over again. How bizarre to see all those trolls chanting and dancing, stuck in the same animation, perfectly synchronized.

It's very much a shizophrenic game. I loved most of the warriors. Their character design was pretty nice. But then there was Kameo and her family - they all looked so bizarrely out of place. Who was that guy, her uncle? For fuck's sake, that guy looked RIDICULOUS.

Also, I would have loved to see more individual villages instead of that questionable overworld.

You gotta admit, those children throwing snowballs in snowtop village was nice. The music reminded me of the ewoks theme from starwars

I love it when developers put little touches like that into games

I finished the game and now I'm going back through and exploring, there are many side quests and you can always go back to the Chamber of Mirrors and play through battles again for better scores.

Also a patch for co-op on Live is on the way.

Great Game! :)

I'm 5 hours into it and had it since launch week. I know I definitely can't handle RPGs these days as I don't have the patience, but even story driven games make my ADD more apparent. I'll plan to play some more and throw in RR6 or PGR3 instead.

i think i finished around 14 hours with nearly all the warriors fully upgraded. i really enjoyed the game, but it definitely had some faults. the graphics were beautiful, and the music rocked.

The combat system is fantastic once you get a feel for the best combinations for each type of enemy. Of course you can just blast the shit out of everything with Thermite's mortar when you get him but what's the point?

I'm really close to finishing this but I haven't picked it up in over a month. It's pretty underwhelming, even for a launch title. The graphics are pretty but the story and gameplay mechanics are just not compelling. I think Skip's review score of 7 that had everybody up in arms was too generous.

I spent alot of the game exploring before going on to main quests, and it really made the game much longer, and much more enjoyable.

Finished the game with all warriors upgraded (you're really missing out if you don't upgrade some of these warriors, their moves are very cool) and most of the elixirs with 16hours clocked.

Seeing as this game doesn;t count when you die and restart, I estimate it around 20-25 hours of actual gameplay, and that's not too bad, a little short but not too bad.

I'd have to say Kameo is the best launch title, it's the only one that really had me watching teh clock at work so I could go home and play. Even COD2 didn't hold me like Kameo did.

Superb effort by rare, and one very very underrated game.

p.s. Tip for the controls: Aim your character BEFORE aiming/shooting/first person view and it makes it much much easier. i.e. instead of shooting deep blue's jets, then turning him towards the enemy (which takes forever) simply press deep blue in the direction of the enemy first(he'll immediately pivit) then start spraying, much faster, much easier.

The trick to the controls in this game are really to line-up your character first, then shoot your icicles, or water jets, or whatever...

I'm glad Kameo isn't that long, I don't think its the kind of game that'll stay interesting after 30 hours.

BTW, did that online co-op update happen? Or was that just a rumor?
