Kanye West is lamenting that his kids have yet to play with the daughter of his friend, mentor and collaborator Jay Z.

Fan video from West's show in Seattle on Wednesday night shows the rapper complaining about business disputes with Jay Z before telling the crowd: "Our kids ain't never even played together."

I usually ignore rapper feuds, because well most of them are dumb. But if the rumors of Jay-Z and Kanye having a "falling out" are true then that's a huge bummer. Like many these two are my personal idols and their music has defined so much of my life. It would be a huge loss if these two never collaborated again.

I personally don't believe the rumors.

But if they're true then...

That Billboard.com summary of the Kanye video is terrible because it barely covers the entire situation. For those who haven't watched the Kanye videos, here's the list of complaints he's making:

1) The reason he and Jay-Z haven't released a Watch the Throne 2 album is because of a dispute between Tidal and Apple, in addition to causing problems with the Drake + Kanye + Jay-Z collaboration song "Pop Style" in regards to percentages for Apple and Tidal.
2) Kanye is mad at Jay-Z for not coming to see him in person after his wife Kim got robbed. He says Jay-Z only called him on the phone to ask him how he was.
3) Kanye says their kids have never played together.

Anyway, regardless of how Kanye feels, he's not going to solve any problems with Jay-Z complaining about him in public. If anything all that will do is push Jay-Z away. I'm sure we'll see a Instagram photo of Jay-Z and Kanye together with their kids in the future though to make everyone think everything's ok.

I do feel that Jay Z (and Beyonce) are using Kanye, particularly exploiting him to further the success of Tidal.

Not only won't Jay Z/Beyonce not allow Blue Ivy to play with North West...don't forget Jay Z/Beyonce also at the very last minute decided to not bother showing up to Kim/Kanye's wedding.

The rumor is that they simply don't like Kim and apparently Kim has tried to befriend Jay Z/Beyonce, but after her attempt to develop a friendship was rejected over and over again, Kim finally told Jay Z/Beyonce to go fuck themselves (which they apparently were not expecting, and assumed Kim would continue trying to fight for their affection).

I don't give a fuck about anything Kanye does these days. I feel like he's taken too many cues from his time with Kim on how to generate a buzz, and almost nothing he does feels genuine anymore. Could care less about whom he beefs with.

I do believe that Kanye feels legitimately aggrieved here and I do believe that the "friendship" has been one-sided. Jay's never recriprocated the same love Kanye has for him. Kanye wanted family, Jay wanted a business partner out of that relationship. Hell, Jay never believed in him as a rapper like that. If it wasn't for Dame Dash, Ye would have been stuck as a producer until he left Roc-A-Fella.


But I don't believe they're done making music together and I don't believe that this would ever make it to wax at least explicitly. Jay might send a few subs like he's sent to Beans over the years, but I don't see diss tracks coming out of it.

Jay will go see him, tell him to get out of his feelings and then pose with him and their kids for a nice "we made up" shot on Instagram.

It sucks that business is getting in the way of the music. I can get understand being upset about that. The rest seems kind of petty to me. Kim getting robbed was awful, but I'm not sure why he'd expect Jay to drop everything to visit them. A phone call is as much as I'd expect from most of my friends if I ever had the misfortune of experiencing such an event. I doubt most of the people he's met through the industry even did that much.

This'll all blow over eventually. I'd be happy to hear any new music from them as the Throne if that ever happens again. The rift between (assuming one even exists) them isn't nearly as large as some people seem to believe.

^This too. I could easily see Jay-Z not wanting to bring his daughter over to Kanye and Kim's house simply because he doesn't want her on Kim's TV show. Or just knowing any time you bring Kanye and Kim around you're going to be filmed, regardless of if Jay-Z is Kanye's "big brother" or not.
