I've always wondered what type of people cosplay. In college there was a guy that lived in my hall that was sort of into cosplay, though what he was into more than just dressing up.. He was into the D&D live action games, where you actually play with plastic swords and shit.

There's a secretary at my job who goes to various conventions, and is into cosplay. She dressed up as Lara Croft and some X-Men chick at the last DragonCon.
Cosplay is also good for the self esteem of fat adolescents. It's the only place they'll be applauded, and not beaten to a bloody pulp for fitting into a spandex super hero costume.
