Katamari - PS2 or PSP?

kaizoku

I'm not as deluded as I make myself out to be
Never played it before, curious what the fuss is about and itseems like the quirky handheld type of game I want to play (on a handheld).

However I hear the handheld has a few problems, loading, controls etc and therefore I'm wondering if the katamari 'experience' is better on the PS2?

and is it worth waiting for both of them to go down in price/end up in bargain buckets? Full price for these games seems.....not worth it?

If you're in the US, they already are in the "bargain bucket." Pick up the original, if you like it, pick up the sequel, if you still want more, the PSP version will have possibly dropped price by the time you get around to it.

One of the main appeals of the Katamari game was their budget pricing. I think you could wait until they hit the bargain bin. Katamari is a great game but it has somewhat limited replay value. I would suggest getting We <3 Katamari since it has more stuff to do compared to the original Katamari Damacy, but I have not played the PSP version.

Theyre like... already budget priced, especially the original! God, not to mention one of the most fun, new fresh and vibrant franchises this generation.

What is worth paying full price for these days! Do you people not want video games to keep being made?!

In reply to your other less-fury-inciting question, the PS2 versions are 'better' control wise, but the PSP version is still great to have as a portable. I'm waiting for the US release of the PSP version as I feel you miss out on a lot of the games humour if you just import the japanese version and bumble through it.

UK here! We only just got the sequel and its expensive @_@. Was getting a PSP and thought "katamari would make a nice PSP game" and so on. Wait for price drop it is then.

Still any thoughts on the games vs each other in terms of how they play and the whole katamari experience?

lol ok just so you guys know - Katamari in the UK is in no way budget priced! its full RRP!

PSP katamari is also pretty much full priced compared to other imports too o_0

If youre in the UK, quite why you havent invested in a Swap Disc and started importing is beyond me! Especially for Katamari purposes.

Katamari Damacy is the game that FORCED me to get a swap magic set and start importing.

I also cannot comprehend why the sequel has only been released here when...it makes obvious in-jokes about the original. Someone needs to be punched, in the face!

I never really researched swap magics and how they work etc, too busy tbh. Worth it and easyto use then? I will need one soon if they don't bring over great game slike Grandia/Rogue Galaxy/Valkyrie Profile etc.

I love how we got Xenosaga II with a 6 hour DVD telling us what happened in game 1. Its now £15 new from GAME. Well done Namco, THATS how you get your games to sell well!
