In a recent white paper presented by VGA (Video Game Intelligence) titled "Glu Mobile CEO Discusses New Hollywood Gaming Potential" features a series of question asked to Niccolo de Masi - CEO of GLU and he confirms the following:

How are you targeting Hollywood deals?

I did three deals when I got here: Kim Kardashian, the first Terminator free-to-play game and the first James Bond free-to-play game. Only Kim’s game is out now, but all three will be successful. Interest in someone like Katy Perry is at all time highs. It’s grown over time, regardless how well any given album performs. That’s an interesting phenomenon. For celebrities these games allow them to build an annuity income stream. Being popular on Twitter or Facebook does not generate value for Katy. She helps Twitter and Twitter doesn't do a lot for her. These games will generate income.
