I Dare You Do It GIF

Streaming away from the living room, playing on the portal if someone else wants to watch something on the TV, winding down on the sofa or bed and not wanting to have the TV anymore etc etc it isn't rocket science to understand some use cases.

The true option is to force your wife/family see you use the awesome tv for playing single player strategy games with no narrative and action whatsoever.

The first one was so much more successful than they initially thought, I like the idea even if I wont get one. It needs to be 120hz also, have back buttons and a couple of custom ones.

OLED 120hz 1080p screen + wifi 7, that will be great upgrade for current portal. Maybe price target at 229$~249$
More like $299.

PS Portal is what Microsoft should have done but lacked the courage or competence to do.

If you want to pay for xCloud rental and wait in line to play, just buy the "Xbox" Portal.
If you want to play whenever you want, avoid queues, and not pay for xCloud, buy an Xbox Series X and an "Xbox" Portal.

But I'll explain why Microsoft doesn't do this: they want to force an eternal monthly rental fee on you and prevent you from buying your own games and having your own console to play your streaming.

As always, Xbox consumers are treated like fools, manipulated and deceived, and then they come to bother us in PlayStation forums criticizing a product that is far superior to Microsoft's garbage made for suckers.
The reason why MS didn't create an "Xbox Portal" is because every single windows, Android, Linux, iOS, ipadOS device with a screen or browser acts as the Xbox Portal for both xCloud and Remote Play. That said, the Logitech G Cloud was their partnership for a streaming handheld.

Are you not aware that xCloud lets you Buy and Stream games?

xCloud shares everything including licensing with the Consoles, so you can buy Helldivers 2 and stream via xcloud to any device, or buy a console and play it there or Remote Play it.

That was the case for the PS Remote play for a decade. Still didn't stop Sony to make a specific product for it. Cause you don't want to play on your smartphone with touch buttons, you want a dedicated device for it.

Yeah, I use my iPad with my PS5 for that when I'm away but a Portal is way more convenient. I don't think PS had the vision for this either. They just stumble into a success without knowing.

Then use any dedicated device for it? Every PC handheld, Steam Deck, or Android handheld works for both xcloud and Remote Play, since it's done via the browser, not just an app. Or an attachable controller like Gamesir g8 or Razer Kishi attached to iPad mini or cheap Samsung/Lenovo tablets.

Odin 3 is a far better streaming handheld. Much more powerful chip and screen. And not limited to PS+ Cloud Gaming.

Portal does offer something other streaming handhelds can not, which is the Dualsense integration. But the main reason for its existence IMO is to gate the Cloud Gaming. It's why Sony hasn't expanded PS5 streaming to other devices.

I know a lot of people think these things are pointless but I've got a Switch OLED and it's great but I think I've literally NEVER played it out of my house. I just don't do it. A portal actually makes loads of sense for a lot of people imo.

Are you trolling? Or do you seem to think all 6 million Portal owners are just stupid?
Pretending a controller + tablet which is at regular price at most 80 + 120 for some not no name 8" tablet, isn't a stupidly overpriced product is stupid.
When you buy one of the cheap smartphone attachment controllers, you start at 30, or eg Gamesir with hall effect sticks at 65. If it is just a holder for DS5 and smartphone even as low as 15bucks.
It can be worth it to those people, it is definitely a more solid solution, but it is nevertheless stupid when you can get the basically same or maybe even better for less.

There is a whole lot of stupid on this world, many of them have more than enough disposable income too.

Ofcourse, we currently have one TV which means either I play a game or she is watching TV. I might bite when OLED portal comes around.

Sorry my english is probably poor, cause when I said « dedicated device » I mean a device dedicated to do xCloud remote play and has a UI around it. Which the Portal is for remote play.

It's cheaper than a controller with extra buttons on the back, so I wouldn't call a device that can play games without needing to own a PS5 overpriced

Oled screen, adjustable bit rate and settings like the px play app, and more streamlined network setting up for people that have no idea how to. That's half the reason portal fails for most, their routers aren't set up properly.

I can't understand why people buy this.

It's the only reason I've been able to play anything at all in 2025, with all the work travels, moving houses to a different town, and just general life. It's was a godsend for me and for many other I'm sure. Now I can't wait to have an OLED one.
