8.0 is the score

Biggest complaints I've read are a couple AI problems in calling support units and having to basically take control of each unit so they don't get wiped out. No biggie since I plan on having total control for the battle anyway!
The upgraded terrain system and need to strategical take out enemies sounds nice. While almost everyone else picks up GT4 next Wednesday I'm going for Kessen III!

So there may be a couple of issues with how the armies behave, but the rest of the details and style of the game make up for it. The strategy and the action mix well together and manage to make a cohesive whole. That's not easy to do and for that Kessen III is very successful. With the variety in the maps themselves and the different skills to develop there's plenty to get into and not feel like you're repeating the same experience over and over again.
8.5 Presentation
Navigating the map is like having a cool breeze blowing through your brain. It's just the inbetween parts that can feel a little too bureaucratic.
8.0 Graphics
The graphics are smooth and permit an easy understanding of the current situation in the game at all times.
6.5 Sound
The music is all well and good, but the voiceovers have the same over-acting that you should be used to by now since it's the same group of actors.
8.0 Gameplay
Strategy and action combine to make an effective hybrid even if the AI needs to be babysat.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
The variety of scenarios keep the game fresh and avoids repetition of becoming a button-mashing collection fest.
8.0 OVERALL
