Kevin Smith's story about the cancelled Superman Lives is hilarious

This is old but the story is so good. I have watched this many times but its always funny:

I'm kind of sad the movie never got made. The idea of Nicholas Cage as Superman doesn't sound good but the movie could have great. The guy he is talking about in the video later produced Superman Returns and Man of Steel.

God, I miss this version of Kevin so much. Just the introspective comic geek screenwriter/director.

This cartoon character loud mouthed stoner thing he does now is something else. He's become his own product and he shills hard.

Bless his heart nonetheless.

Yeah, I used to be a huge fan of Kevin Smith. Everything changed when he decided to become a massive stoner and it's crazy that he doesn't realize it has been detrimental to his career.

He goes on and on about how productive he is on weed, but just look at the utter shit he is putting out there - Tusk, Yoga Hosers, that embarrassing cartoon movie, Reboot. The dude keeps losing and he doesn't seem to grasp that he's doing it to himself.

It's a shame because his early work was brilliant, I particularly enjoy Dogma. Hopefully he doesn't fuck up the Masters of the Universe gig on Netflix, but I don't have much hope.

Hell yeah, I honestly think Dogma is his best movie. Even my Dad, who is not the target audience for most Kevin Smith movies, always really liked Dogma. It tackles religion and Christianity from such a smart perspective, and I love it.

Yeah, I've watched this a few times over the years. Such an engaging story teller in public, too bad he couldn't translate that to his movies better. Nice peek inside how batshit insane these movie producers have been.
I haven't actually seen any of his movies. I know him from his interview with Stan Lee in early 2000s and many of his Youtube videos. What are his best movies?

Dogma is good. But Chasing Amy is just so, so, so fantastic. It has so much heart, so many quotable lines, and I love that it wraps up in a realistic way instead of a hollywood happy ending.

What's a Nubian?

Dogma and Mallrats were always my personal favorites. I was never a fan of the first Clerks...it has some moments, but it was okay. But I find Clerks 2 hilarious, and I think I might be a minority there. I always loved the Clerks cartoon also...it was very short lived, but I remember thinking those episodes were funny as hell at the time when the DVD came out.

I actually watched Jay and Silent Bob's Reboot today and it was just awful. Maybe it's because my sense of humour has matured in the last twenty years, and I don't think Kevin Smiths' has. I loved watching Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma when I was in my teens back in the '90s but from the looks of it, Kevin never developed as a director, he just played it safe.

It’s like they refuse to accept reality. Everyone around them sees the difference except them and their stoner friends. Loved his old stuff, no interest in anything newer.

Red State was very cool

fuck this movie

i was so excited when i heard those trumpets sounds. i was thinking, holy shit theyre going to pull the trigger on this insane end of the world ending thats fucking awesome!!

and then it was like "psyche,👉😏👉 gotcha" and just fell flat, ending with a boring wet, stinky fart. such a fucking disappointment. the rest fo the movie was decent i guess, but i dont remember a whole lot about it so it couldnt have been that good

Young Kevin Smith and the way he would tell stories was a top notch stand up act.

The way he plants seeds at the beginning of his stories and then ends them with the payoff is great. The Wild Wild West bit at the end is hilarious.

His Prince stories were great to.

Yeah the Prince story is great too. All the parts seem to be on Youtube but some are uploaded by different people:
