Kilzone dev: 'Not long now for some news'

HUH HA HA YES!

Killzone's not as bad as people make it out to be. I just picked it up a few months ago for shits and its actually fairly enjoyable. The "Halo-killer" hype just killed it though, it had no chance having to live up to Halo/Halo 2.

In theory Killzone should sell well(for a fps) in Japan. Teh manga inspired nasties and nazi themes.
(Not saying Japanese folks like nazis)

I need me some PS3 info. After Feb 1 I'm hoping some more stuff can finally be released. Let us end the embargo! :D

Killzone was picked up and released by Sega (unless i'm going mad!) over here after the E3 trailer sperm sea tsunami.

it sold like shit unfortunately, which is a little sad for Sega given they saw an opportunity and decided to roll with it.

Never forget

:lol poor bastards. If it had been a little more low key it might have been better recieved. My biggest gripes with the game are stuff that are certainly fixable with nextgen hardware (the framerate hiccups and small levels/frequent load times).

Of course it failed, it was Sega + Killzone. One part stupid with one part mediocre is not a recipe for success.

Never forget

Don't worry, I'll never forget how the gaming press raised unrealistic expectations for Killzone, resulting in a nasty (and undeserved) backlash against what was actually a pretty decent game when it didn't live up to the hype. Thanks for reminding me, though.

One question i always have about Killzone is ... why the soldiers don't wear helmets on battlefield? i think it's stupid. they certainly make it much easier for their enemies to kill them.

I agree. Hopefully they will change this design decision in the end product.

I'm sure everyone will be here with their waders and rubber pants on when footage is released. It will be glorious.

3/4 of the soldiers in that picture are wearing helmets.

Probably because the game wasn't intended to be a combat simulation - it's more on par with a gritty, near-future SF war movie. And just like in the movies, you want people to be able to see the faces of the key characters, so that the player can better identify with them. (Guerrilla did a nice job with the characters' faces, too, particularly considering the hardware the game's running on.) It's a humanizing touch. And having all the Helghast run around in helmets and rebreather masks while the heroes run around bare-faced reinforces their ominous, inhuman anonymity - it just works nicely from a visual standpoint.

well, i agree you with that killzone is not a combat simulation. but the game is trying to depict a war. it should a common sence that soldiers should wear helmets in combat. it's just so wired to see that helmet is not a standard combat gear even in a fictional war.

plus, we can still see the soldiers' faces when they have their helmets on... they don't have to wear masks.

I wonder what would produce a bigger shitstorm, footage that looks like shit or footage that looks almost as good as the CG. Regardless, there will be a shitstorm and I will stock up on Popcorn and soda for it :lol
