Could also be exclusives related, Xbox One was selling more than the 360 until the exclusives Don had setup stopped coming.
Kinect Adventures was the last Xbox game to sell really wellCould also be exclusives related, Xbox One was selling more than the 360 until the exclusives Don had setup stopped coming.
So you're saying that Don was better for Xbox than Phill?Could also be exclusives related, Xbox One was selling more than the 360 until the exclusives Don had setup stopped coming.
I bet anything that a Series S + Kinect bundle would be doing better than what Xbox Series S is doing now
Both Don and Phil have different skillsets. So you're saying that Don was better for Xbox than Phill?
That's a surprising bet.I bet anything that a Series S + Kinect bundle would be doing better than what Xbox Series S is doing now
And how did that go?They took Kinect OUT of the Xbox One package to improve sales.
Kinect was an overpromised and under delivered hype bit of tech. That quickly gathered dust, the improved version for the Xbox One couldn't bring back audiences that had already had their fix and moved on.
That's a surprising bet.
Of all the things that you could package with a Series S, I think most people would have a fairly long list before suggesting Kinect as a way to drive, not kill, sales.
"Ok, it's more expensive, but you can play Fruit Ninja. So...? Do we have a sale?"

"Or, cheaper but, and I must stress this, you can't play Fruit Ninja"

No but it's perfect for targeting that market & that market is theirs for the taken right nowI'm starting to think that some of you really believe XSS is just "for children and casuals and grannies"... Hmmm...
Wtf lol
Completely anecdotal, but I find a reason to buy every console at launch…I did not buy an Xbox One at launch because of Kinect. I can't be the only one that waited for the Xbox One to work without a Kinect.Kinect wasn't the problem being more expensive than PS4 while being weaker was the problem
So an additional cost? You do realize that you can have a Kinect like device for about $50 now right?
The Kinect did cause xbox sales to increase but the era of the Wii has come and gone. Kinect wouldn't do as well today as it did back then.
With Social Media the way it is now it would probably sell even more. The Kinect did cause xbox sales to increase but the era of the Wii has come and gone. Kinect wouldn't do as well today as it did back then.
So Nintendo should have a go at Wii 3? What you're forgetting is that the sales graph includes the times XB1 had kinect. Kinect sales dropped. With Social Media the way it is now it would probably sell even more.

I mean, a real Wii 2 would have fared a ton better than Wii U. Supporting the old and clunky Wiimotes in some games doesn't make it a Wii 2. Just as PSVR2 is a whole league ahead of PSVR by not reimplementing the wands but having properly tracked and fully featured controllers. A Wii 2 could have probably had controllers with excellent tracking by replacing the sensor bar of Wii with an actual sensing bar with a camera or two tracking both the position and orientation of a pair of Oculus Rift-like controllers (basically two nunchucks with a couple extra buttons and tracked ring) in 1:1 accuracy as long as you're facing it (so 100% of the time as obviously you wanna face your TV). A game like Red Steel 3 could retain and improve on its predecessor's excellent shooting mechanics (even letting you dual wield and what not when your off hand isn't gimped by lesser motion abilities and both hands aren't gimped by say, lacking an analog stick or having a weird form factor as the Wiimote did by trying to double as a sideways controller) and have sword combat akin to Blade & Sorcery on top instead of some limited prone to errors tracking and gestures. I'd buy that for sure for all it could do for the rest of its library (including BOTW realizing Skyward Sword's concept on top of its other advancements). That way it'd be capable of traditional gaming and at the same time just a step below playing modern VR games in seated mode (turning and moving with the sticks). So Nintendo should have a go at Wii 3? Switch pretty much is the new WiiSo Nintendo should have a go at Wii 3? What you're forgetting is that the sales graph includes the times XB1 had kinect. Kinect sales dropped.
Didn't the Wii MotionPlus accessory and new controllers do pretty good 1:1 accuracy already?I mean, a real Wii 2 would have fared a ton better than Wii U. I'd buy that and all it would do for the rest of its library (including traditional games as seen with the likes of Astro Bot or Moss, just because you CAN do great motion controls doesn't mean you want it every time) (including BOTW realizing Skyward Sword's concept) for sure. It'd be both a traditional console and at the same time just a step below playing modern VR games in seated mode (so turning and moving with the analog sticks rather than any physically).
Nah, just better than the vanilla was. Orientation tracking was good with the gyroscope in place of the simple tilt sensors but actual motion tracking relied on the same old accelerometers or whatever those are called and was just as limited. That's why the cursor aiming in Skyward Sword was worse than in vanilla Wii games as they thought the motion sensing is good enough and didn't have it track the sensor bar any more so you even needed to recalibrate it and it just never felt right and that was for simple pointing, never mind motion controlled games like Red Steel 2. You need orientation and position for 1:1. Wands were the opposite with having good positional tracking (although depth could suffer) thanks to the orbs but no way to 1:1 the orientation of the controller so when you played something like a lightgun-esque shooter it was more like waving an air mouse than pointing.Didn't the Wii MotionPlus accessory and new controllers do pretty good 1:1 accuracy already?
Kinect would have sold gang busters during the Pandemic when everyone was exercising at home. Ring Fit Adventure on switch sold like 20 million copies. With Social Media the way it is now it would probably sell even more.

Imagine what that Kinect Fitness thing they had at Xbox One's launch woukd have sold.
Funny Switch Sports & Ring Fit sold more than any game on Series S/X so I guess people tired of playing Xbox Games huh?Lol, one of the dumbest threads I've ever seen on here.
Let's make the Series S as expensive as PS5 Digital, so we can release games that people got tired of playing a decade ago.
Sales[edit]
Ring Fit Adventure debuted at #3 in the UK,[17] and #1 in Japan and South Korea.[18][19] In Japan, it sold 68,497 copies within its first week on sale, which placed it at number one on the all format sales chart.[20] By December 2019, the game had shipped 2.73 million units worldwide.[21]
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, demand for the game increased significantly, creating shortages.[22][23]
On June 18, 2020, it was confirmed that Ring Fit Adventure had sold over one million copies in Japan, where it shipped a total of 1,006,069 copies across the region.[18]
From launch to September 2020, the game has sold 5.84 million units worldwide.[24]
By March 31, 2021, sales reached 10.11 million copies.[25]
As of March 31, 2022, the game sold 14.09 million copies making it one of the best-selling Nintendo Switch games.[26]
By June 30, 2022, 14.54 million copies of the game were sold.[27]
The game was released on April 29, 2022, and received generally mixed reviews from critics.[3] Nintendo Switch Sports has sold over 8.61 million copies as of December 31, 2022, making it one of the best-selling Nintendo Switch games.

I'm not sure, seemed good enough for 1:1 accuracy in a sword fighting game like red steel:
I'll take the hot take and say...
You're right.
A $199/$249 Series S Kinect bundle with a line-up of solid games that support the accessory on Game pass...
Sounds like something that could actually be successful.
But it requires games, legitimate experiences that speak to the value of the Kinect.
And MS is struggling so hard to make enticing new experiences that they are literally throwing 70 billion dollars at the fucking window to do it, instead of utilizing what they have.
Gimmick generation is over man, none of those who bought a wii/kinect/move for the motion control fad ever came back for more, it served it purpose back when it was released, nowadays no one would care, in fact, majority didn't with the Xbone+kinect release, why suddenly it'd work out 10 years later?![]()
