If you didn't already know...

Six Flags (Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ) decided to add 36 feet, 8 more mph, and green paint to Cedar Point's Top Thrill Dragster and call it Kingda Ka.

I've been on TTD, and I'm pretty sure that it's the same experience. Why didn't they at least TRY to stand out (by including the world's tallest loop or something)?

I am kinda getting sick of these damn 20 second rides just so you can go up a giant tower for the fastest/tallest ride. Give me something the longest roller coaster, then I will be happy and impressed.

Top Thrill and this are by the same firm, Intamin AG. Same guys that built Millenium Force.

Intamin: For all your height needs.

You ruined the legitimacy of my complaint. :(

I started to black out on Cedar Point's ride. The coaster actually got shut down because it was going significantly faster than they would allow, and I happened to be on it for one of the last groups allowed through. I'm not sure I could handle much more. I think I might be willing to try though, but someone's going to have to go on it first!

[edit] Ok maybe not, that's far too vertical of a drop for me. I hate those kind of rides! *shudder* Otherwise it looked like fun!

You lucky sonovabitch! :D

The only time I ever experienced discomfort on a rollercoaster was in Yokohama. The rollercoaster was tiny, and the car was too small for my legs. So I basically was sitting with my knees in my chest the whole time which restricted my breathing. When I got off the rollercoaster I felt lightheaded and ill.

The Beast awaits. If they'd ever make it more like it really was in the old days (it used to be much faster!) it would easily still be the best coaster in the country after 25 years. Hell, it might still be anyway.

The best rollercoaster that I've ever been on is Six Flags Magic Mountain's "Viper"*. What an awesome fucking ride that is!

*it's the one Clarence, Alabama, Dick Richie & Cousin Balki went on in "True Romance"
