Kingdom Hearts II scans

The Gummi Ship is still in. From what's been shown in trailers it looks quite a bit different from the originals. So it might not be a bad thing that its returning.

I haven't played the first one yet.
I have the GBA recent game coming through the post from Nintendo's recent giveaway on their Euro site.

Look forward to this on the PS2 though, and will most likely buy the first to play that first as it would probably help!

And also, am I the only one who is tired of the same old worlds we've seen in the original KH and KH:COM? Give us more worlds please. wtf..

I kind of feel the same way, but at the same time, I recognize that some of the worlds could do with a bit more exploring. You never got to see Jasmine's Palace in Aladdin, for example, and Hercules will be more than a colosseum this time. (And unfortunately, Meg will be there too. It's odd, I don't really mind the Hercules series, I even watch the cartoon now and then on Toon Disney and I don't mind his friends, but Meg just bothers me, for some reason.) And maybe this time they can make The Little Mermaid world not resemble a freaky ghost town quite so much. They weren't too generous with the NPCs last time around in some of the worlds.

As for the new locations, we absolutely know there's a Mulan world, and supposedly around E3, there was a leaked list (off an official website) of some of the new worlds that was quickly taken down. Plus, there's a short list of worlds that several seperate resources have named multiple times as "possibilities," one in particular that's stuck out to me (since it was one I'd hoped for) was Robin Hood. I believe even OPM mentioned it, and that's kind of an obscure Disney movie for a lot of people to be seperately bringing up.

Unfortunately, they'll probably stick to movies, so still no characters or sequences from the TV shows (Aladdin had a long run), and things like Duck Tales and Gargoyles are probably out. (Duck Tales had a movie, true, but it's still a TV-focused property. Shame, though.) But it sounds like there'll be some pretty good new ones to go along with the retreads.

I'm actually not too upset about them not showing all the new worlds. It'll make things that much more surprising when it comes out instead of having everything shown to you beforehand.

Heh Goofy sure is locked in on Aladdins ass. :P

Looks great, hopefully it'll be at least enjoyable this time around though. I had to really push myself in the first one, but well.. my sister loved it so perhaps it's just me. The GBA gives me a lot of hope though, absolutely enjoyed it.

I really hope FFIX characters show up this time around though.

They won't. The game is directed by Testuya Nomura, who did the character designs for characters in FFVII, VIII, and IX, and he's a pig headed ass fuck so he won't put any old school FF or FFIX characters in it.

I'm sure that's the reason.

Could the character models be anymore perfect? I think not. I'm sure they've gotten the art assets directly out of Disney's vault though becuase they look exactly, every detail, like they do in their movies.

As for Capt. Jack Sparrow, I'm worried, that was live action and I don't know how that will translate to animated. That should be an awesome level though. Is Capt. Barbosa in the game too?

According IMDB, he's in it. All being voiced by the actors that play them in the movie.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390163/

Also Elizabeth is suppose to play a key role in the overall game.

I can't believe how good these look. WTF is the poly count on these models, the curves are unbelievably smooth. And fuck cel-shading, whatever "cartoon emulating" technique they're using with the gradiated textures looks really crisp and clean. I've never seen a game pull off cartoon designs this well, ever. Square ought to patent their process.

Looks great. I hope there'll be lots of new worlds but they're just keeping them under wraps.

Hopefully more FF related characters show up too. Yuna wasn't in KH right? Can't remember.

Here's the scan from a while back with Jack Sparrow:

I really hope the worlds are bigger this time around, instead of being 4-10 screens that you have to go back and forth in.

I hope I like this better than the origina; (i.e. better camera/level design/gummi ship). I ended up quitting on the Little Mermaids level.

Seriously though it looks great and they've had all the time in the world to fix the kinks. I'm there

Anything new about KH2 out there? I only just yesterday started paying attention to the game's existence after seeing a few Disney movies recently on DVD and realizing how much I haven't properly appreciated them over the years, most recently watching Aladdin, Mulan, and my favorite of the bunch: Hercules.

Specifically positive is the game now having Meg (and it seems Susan Egan as voice) and more from Hercules. She apparently isn't everyone's cup of tea but pfft, Meg rocks, though the game art looks some of the edge from the movie has been lost.

From reading, it appears Kingdom Hearts 1 doesn't have much of the cast of Hercules (or Mulan either) in it, and since KH2 apparently plays better than KH1, skipping KH1 entirely in favor of KH2 seems the way to go.

Looking forward to more info.

Still, a person like me would probably get more enjoyment out of KH2 because it's a continuing story. KH1 has one of the best endings this gen and unexpectly somber heartfelt one at that.

The sacrifices they all made...they just wanted to be together and get back home!

That slow rendition of "Simply and Clean" at the end made me sadder. :(

KH2 for me has been too long await because of that ending.

Not really, the story is tied directly to KH1.

I guess if you care only for seeing the disney side of the game, KH1 may not be as necessary.

I'm sure that's the reason.

From the 'Afterthoughts: Final Fantasy VII' Q & A with Nomura and Yoshinori Kitase in the October EGM:

Tetsuya Nomura said:
[...]I remember that before we started FF VII, the characters from Final Fantasy IV were still very popular, despite the fact that FFV and FFVI had been released. I found this really frustrating. Why would people still be talking about those characters? So I made it my goal to create my own batch of characters that would be remembered and loved by the Final Fantasy fans.[...]

That seems to support Himuro's theory, at least to me. Take it as you will.

I initially phrased that as a question but just went with "seems". I actually haven't entirely written off checking out KH1, time permitting. As someone who has put more hours than average into FFVII, FFVIII, FFX (apparently from reading, FFIX fans don't get much out of KH), I'm certainly secondarily intrigued by the Square/FF side of things as well.

The game certainly has it's FF fanservice, though one of them is hard as hell to get. I can't get that badass Sephiroth vs Cloud battle cinema because Sephiroth pimps slaps me around like a ho.

Can Someone Make a brief Spoiler About what happened at the End of KH1? i got to the end and stopped playing for a while. When i went back to play i found my file gone. im guessing someone erased it to make room for madden. Anyone?

Who knows when KH2 will be out in the US, so there's time:).

Oh ya, Meg does rock.

Only remember Riku locking himself and Mickey behind a door, and Kairi is stranded on an island. Something like that... Cloud meets Aerith.

you are joking ? aren't you?

No, not really. I don't completely have a single choice but from what is shown of KH2, it's certainly up there. It's just eerie how a round and smooth a current gen game look poly wise when I still see some next gen games still have hard poly edges, and the fact they faithfully replicated so many different artstyles in one game is a diffinate plus.

Simply put, best looking PS2 game yet.

Well doesn't taste come in somewhere? I prefer a game that looks like Black, Matrix: Path of Neo, GOW, or MGS3 over this game's graphics. You know more realistic games. That's just me though.

Sure taste comes in somewhere and this still is at PS2's top elite.

Agreed. Nobody hates this game more than me. I think the entire premise is fucking retarded, juvenile and senseless. But the graphics are fucking lovely. Even Jack Sparrow.

The fact they not only got different cartoon artsyles done but even got faithful 3D game renditions of a live action movie just floored me. I can only imagine what this team can do next gen on the PS3. Sure the game is love it or hate it, but damn if it isn't great to look at.

I started playing the original for the first time a couple weeks ago. Can't say I really enjoy it. :(

The Gummi ship is the stupidest thing ever put into a game. I appreciate the effort that went into the voice acting though. The story and graphics are fun too, but god the gameplay is horrible along with the camera.

No i'm not. How many games can you think of that are able to pull off 2D art in a 3D world as well as KH2 does? They look exactly like you'd imagine them to look in 3D, all done without cellshading. If you dislike the art you'll probably dislike it. But purely from a technical level, its really amazing. Really clean image quality, fantastic character modeling and some of the best animation in any game.
