Kit Harrington is offering Game of Thrones sword giveaway to 50 lucky people to celebrate their anniversary

Please note the product is probably in high demand so could be out of stock pretty soon

Any info on the quality of the Swords? Are they display quality, prop quality or are they functional? Who is making them? Most movie studios hire bladesmiths to make their top quality master blades but then they have prop makers take that and make duplicates that are basically safety swords with fake tips. Functional reproduction blades are going to cost a pretty penny and lots of labor to make so I can't imagine it being that.

EDIT: I just saw their site. No info on the quality. The swords look sketchy from what little it does zoom in... and they say that they sell things at cheaper profit margins... as a social movement? Wut? If you put effort into making something, you should be rewarded in kind when selling it... Especially flipping forging blades. I'm getting into bladesmithing myself and it's def not easy so you would definitely want some return on your investment for all the effort and skill it takes to hone and employ your craft...

If I had to make a bet, I'd say that most of this stuff comes from china or someplace similar...

In fact, I just checked the LOTR section and they have Sting. The sword in the description doesn't even look like the swords in the "reviews" and the swords shown in the pics of the reviews are... Sting... but they aren't even the same...

This is a fanpage, not Kit Harrington's account. I can't find any information on this business outside of their own website. If they're not lying about sending "free" merch (shipping is $20 minimum) then probably expect some cheap garbage in the mail.

edit: their About page (loaded with errors) claims they've been in business for over five years, but an archive of their site from just two years ago shows an empty wordpress blog.

Their privacy policy lists their site as existing under a different url, but that other site refers users to another store entirely. A soulful jewellery range, oooh.

Advertising through a profile people would mistake for official, and I can't find any external record of them at all. Not even a YouTube unboxing or review, or even a mention on Twitter. I nearly got caught up in ordering a sword before I remembered I'm paranoid always all the time non-stop
